-an Schreibrechenmaschinen.
Device for the automatic retraction of the writing and calculation slides
- on typewriters. The invention relates to a device for the automatic
Retrieval of the writing slide and at the same time the calculation slide at
Typewriters with independently working writing slides and
Computing slide according to patent 437283. Devices are already known on typewriters,
to return the writing carriage to its starting position by means of an electric motor,
for starting and stopping the drive, claw clutches, friction
or electromagnetic clutches have been used. These types of drives usually result
Difficulty getting around the hard start and the hard bump at the end of the way back
to avoid.
The invention is used for the retraction of the writing or computing carriage
no clutch, but drives a cam disk by an electric motor, which
always switch the motor off again after one revolution. This cam disc takes
on a part of its rotation with a lever arm, which in connection with a
Toothed segment two cord pulleys set in rotation, from which a cord pull
or tape transmits the movement to the carriages in a known manner. The great
The advantage of this type of drive is that the driving cam and
the driven lever arm can be set up so that the slide movement
is very slow at the beginning, then increasing to a maximum, at the end of the
Movement, however, can drop back to zero.

Der Arm i rd
des Hebels i i ragt in den Weg des umlaufenden Nockens q und wird von dem Nocken
seitlich geschwenkt.
Abb. i zeigt
On the shaft: 2 of the motor i a worm 3 is attached, which drives a worm wheel .4. The worm wheel 4 is connected by the shaft 5 to the pinion 6, which meshes with the gear wheel 7. On the axis 8 of the gear 7 also the cam g is applied and firmly connected to the gear. The three-armed lever ii is rotatably mounted on the fixed axis fo. The arm i rd of the lever ii protrudes into the path of the rotating cam q and is pivoted to the side by the cam. The arm i rd of the lever ii is used to attach a handle for the eventual retraction of the slide by hand. The lever arm i 1b of the lever ii is designed as a toothed segment iic at the end and engages with the toothed wheel 12. On the axis 1,3 of the toothed wheel 12 (Fig. 3) two cord discs 14, 15 are loosely rotatably mounted, the diameter of which is dimensioned so that one turn of the cord disc winds a little more string than the longest movement of the writing or calculation slide . The driver arm 16 is attached to the axis 13 between the cord pulleys and is rigidly connected to the toothed wheel.i2. The cord pulleys have driver pins or stops 17, 18 at a suitable point, which are grasped by the driver arm 16, as a result of which the cord pulleys 14, 15 are rotated. The hubs i4a and i5a of the cord pulleys 14 and 15 are also each provided with a cord pull i9 and 2o, which by the springs 21 and 22 suspended at 23 and 24 rotate the cord pulleys 14 and 15 so that they are always the writing or Wind up the cord 25 or 26 that guides the slide, ie give it a certain amount of tension. Fig. I shows the drive mechanism in the position at the beginning of the return movement of the carriage. By pressing on the right lever arm of the lever 27, which is mounted at 28, the contact is closed at 29 and the motor i is put into operation. By the motor, the gear 7 is brought to the cam 9 in rotation, wherein the cam 9 f the lever arm so as far entrains until it comes out of the range of the cam 9 and the toothed segment iic the gear 12 about once has turned around. Since the driver arm 16 is firmly connected to the gear wheel 12, it has also made one revolution between the cord disks 14, 15 and has taken the cord disks 14, 15 with it by means of the stop pins 17, 18, and these have wound up the traction cables 25, 26, as a result of which both carriages 40 and 41 are pulled into the starting position. It does not matter in which position the two carriages 40 and 41 were, they are always brought evenly into the starting position. As already mentioned, the lever ii is equipped with the lever arm 1 ig in order to be able to attach a hand lever 32 to it, with the aid of which the two carriages can be withdrawn by hand.
Before the gear 7 with the cam 9 has completed one revolution,
a pin 30 protruding downward on the gear wheel [7 abuts against a stop 31
(See the position of the gear 7 with the cam 9 and stop 34, dash-dotted lines
drawn in Fig. i) of the contact lever 27, loves the Kontaktherbel27 from the terminal contact
29 and thus switches off the engine. The engine runs through its own momentum
a little further, so that the gear 7 with the pin 3o still a short distance
continues and releases the stop 31 for a new activation:
