Description
Process for dissolving and reprecipitating keratins (horny substances). It is well known that keratins (horny substances) stand out from other proteins characterized by their poor solubility. Carbonic acid, caustic or alkaline sulfur They can do so if the dilution is not too great, and especially when heated to solve; in the process, however, the horny substance is largely decomposed. This is special can be recognized by the fact that this is a large part of the sulfur content of the keratinous substance get lost. The so-called sulfur lead test on keratin is based on this. Correspondingly, the suggestion made earlier introduces artificial masses Manufacture keratin-containing substances in such a way that they are initially in alkaline or alkaline sulfur lyes and then again by adding acids to products that are no longer unchanged keratin or contained, but very strongly changed and degraded or a mixture of the most diverse Amino acids. Artificial masses produced in this way can therefore no longer be used the favorable properties of keratin in terms of poor solubility, durability and the like.
It has now been shown that solutions of suitable metal amines, such as in particular those of copper oxide ammonia and other copper amines, keratins, such as Horn shavings, hair, wool, fibers and the like, in very considerable quantities and quite a bit able to dissolve quickly, and that the horny substance emerges so well from this solution how completely and unchanged can fail again, z. B. by acids or acidic Salts. The dissolution of the keratin by these metal amines is explained by the formation a soluble complex compound that can be obtained by simply diluting it with water, but better still, it can be broken down again by means of acids. That the dissolution of the Keratins is not to be regarded here as an effect of ammonia as such, arises from the fact that ammonia and amines, which contain no metal, Keratins are unable to dissolve.
B. Nickeloxydammoniak, Anwendung finden. Those dissolved in the metal amines and replaced by acids, acidic salts or other compounds that break down the metal amine protein compounds Precipitated keratins are suitable for the production of artificial masses, be it that one brings them into thread or ribbon form already during the precipitation, be it that one it forms after the precipitation and, if necessary, with formaldehyde, tanning agents o. The like. Treated. You can also use the copper amine horn solution with a resolution of Mix cellulose in copper oxide ammonia without creating a: precipitate, and spin both together. The thread formed is different from the ordinary one Artificial silk due to its mechanical properties. In particular, however, the coloring properties of the cellulose rayon the addition of the keratin beneficially changed. Instead of the copper amines, others can also be used Metal amines, e.g. B. Nickeloxydammoniak, find application.
Ausführungsbeispiele. i. To the keratins for the subsequent formation of the complex compounds to make it more suitable with the metal amine solution and to accelerate this dissolution, they can be pretreated with alkaline solutions, which are of course made that way must that thereby a dissolution and decomposition of the keratin substance not yet entry. Embodiments. i. The solution is poured over% kg of horn shavings of 1 kg of copper sulphate in 3 liters of water, the remaining goo g of sodium hydroxide solution (of 33 percent) and 10 1 strong ammonia were added. The horn will come off with frequent stirring completely absorbs and can in the dark blue liquid within several hours by adding sulfuric acid or sodium bisulfate until it turns light again precipitated and brought into the desired shape.
a. 3. Man verwendet Nickeloxydulammoniak und verfährt im übrigen ähnlich wie in Beispiel i.a. Dissolve 1 kg of wool waste in the manner just described in copper oxide ammonia, adds the same amount of dissolution of cellulose in copper oxide ammonia to this solution and processes this mixture using a suitable precipitation bath. 3. Man uses Nickeloxydulammoniak and otherwise proceeds similarly to Example i.
