Die Vorteile ihrer Verwendung gegenüber den bisher üblichen Meßflüssigkeiten bestehen vor allem in ihrer chemischen Indifferenz und Reinheit, dem Mangel jeglichen Teer- und Schwefelgehaltes, in dem hohen Flamm- und Brennpunkt, dem niedrigen Gefrierpunkt, der Unvermischbarkeit mit Mineralölen und Wasser und in dein hohen spezifischen Gewicht, das größer ist als das des Wassers. Hierdurch wird erreicht, daß ein Emulgieren mit Wasser bzw. sich bildendem Kondenswasser vermieden wird. Infolge des spezifischen Gewichtes wird die Meßflüssigkeit durch Wasser nicht verdrängt.
