Auf diese Weise wird nicht nur da voller Ersatz der Isolierkörper aus Porzellan, gepreßtem Papier, Marmor, Schiefer o. dgl. erzielt, sondern auch noch der Vorteil der nachträglichen mechanischen Bearbeitung (Nachbohren usw.) und gegenüber verschiedenen der bisher benutzten Stoffe auch der weitere Vorteil des Schutzes gegen das Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit geboten, obwohl Bimsmehl zur Herstellung benutzt wird. Die Herstellung geschieht in der Weise, daß Bimsmehl durch Wasserglas oder Harze oder andere geeignete Bindemittel gebunden, in die für die jeweils herzustellenden Gegenstrände erforderlichen Formen gepreßt, darauf getrocknet und gebrannt wird. Das Erzeugnis hat -einen hohen Grad dielektrischer Festigkeit, der durch Glasuren oder Tränkung noch erhöht werden kann.
