Erfindungsgemäß wird vorgeschlagen, die Schweißschnur durch spanende Bearbeitung aus einem homoge­ nen platten- oder bahnenförmigen Flächengebilde herzustellen. Auf diese Weise wird die endlose Bahn gleich­ zeitig von der Ober- und Unterseite jeweils so angefräst, daß eine größere Anzahl parallel zueinander verlaufende, jeweils halbkreisförmige Ausfräsungen entstehen, wobei sich die Ausfrä­ sungen auf der Ober- und Unterseite zu einem Vollkreis ergän­ zen. Die so entstandenen Schweißschnüre können - soweit notwen­ dig - mittels eines Messers voneinander getrennt werden. Eine der Fräs­ walzen wird auf der Ober- und die andere auf der Unterseite der Belagsware so geführt, daß die Achsen der Fräswalzen parallel zueinander und zu der Oberfläche der Bahn ausgerichtet sind. Nach Passieren der Fräsanordnung erhält man eine Vielzahl in sich marmorierter Schweißschnüre mit je 4 mm Durchmesser. Die Schweißschnüre können entsprechend dem Stand der Technik verwendet werden.
