Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a roof rail for vehicles, consisting from at least two, spaced apart and essentially parallel spars extending to the roof surface along the side roof frames and from the spars, each on the roof or in it trained channels supporting feet, by means of several, one opposite hole pattern in the body penetrating screw bracing connections on a contact surface of the roof or roof duct are cash.
A roof rail of the generic type is from DE-OS 35 24 558 as known. The problem is in this publication addressed, which result from occurring height tolerances can. The problem, however, is not addressed in this publication, which results from occurring length tolerances.
As mentioned at the beginning, a roof railing consists of at least one Wear a spar on each side of the roof and at least two spars each the railing feet. The bars and feet are put together for assembly and the feet are equipped with threaded bolts, the protruding ones Ends are passed through holes in the roof panel. On the Threaded bolts are screwed from the other side of the roof panel screwed on. Because the hole pattern in the roof panel due to common manufacturing tolerances in different vehicles, certain deviations in particular with regard to the spacing between the holes tolerated measures are necessary. An obvious opportunity, the occurring Compensate for tolerances in that the spars vary in width slipped onto the plug-in lugs of the railing feet because the resulting joint formation, already from stilis technical reasons, cannot be accepted. In practice it has one has so far been using elongated holes to compensate for length tolerances in the vehicle body or correspondingly large dimensions Make through holes. This resulted in considerable Sealing problems.
The invention is based on the object, a roof railing type mentioned so that the interaction length tolerances arising from roof rails and bodywork compensate quickly and easily.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that between an adapter for each foot and the contact surface of the roof or roof channel is arranged with an opposite hole pattern in the checks series penetrating screws and holes for Screws that can be screwed into the foot, with which the adapter can be attached to the foot can be fixed, has an opening cross-section, which is larger than the screw cross-section.
Through these measures according to the invention, an exact adjustment is possible the fastening screws to the respective distance between the holes of the hole pattern achieved, namely by the adjustment of each Adapters relative to the associated foot. There is no need To have slots or the like. In the body and thus also an increased manufacturing effort in sealing the vehicle. Also, by default according to teaching for the roof rails is a very Narrow tolerance range possible for mounting on the vehicle.
It is preferably provided that the perforations are elongated forms, with longitudinal axes, each parallel to the longitudinal axis the spars run. It can also be provided that each adapter on the side facing away from the feet chamber-shaped depressions for recessed mounting of the screw heads that can be screwed into the feet Has screws.
In the case of roof rails that are to be attached to a vehicle roof, that has no channel formed therein, it is, in particular advantageous for stylistic reasons that each adapter in one, trained in the contact surface of the respective associated foot Depression is arranged.
To create an often necessary height tolerance compensation fen, can be provided in a further embodiment of the invention, that the one received by each adapter, an opposite hole screws in the body as height-adjustable Threaded bolts are formed with a clamping flange.
Es zeigtEmbodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the Drawings explained in more detail. It shows

Fig. 4 shows a longitudinal section through the end portion of the roof rail according to FIG. 3.
The roof rail according to Fig. 1 and 2 consists of a beam 1, at least at the ends, supported on feet 2, is accommodated. Only one of the feet is shown in the drawing. The foot 2 , which is preferably formed from a metallic material, but may also consist of plastic, has a support or support surface 3 and, spaced from this height, a plug pin 4 , which is substantially parallel to the support or support surface 3 is aligned. The plug pin 4 engages in the free, hollow end of the spar 1 . An adhesive connection can exist between the plug pin 4 and the spar 1 .
The support or support surface 3 of the foot 2 is supported on an adapter 5 , which in turn is supported on the roof 6 or the floor 7 of a channel 8 formed therein. The adapter 5, which may consist of the same material as the foot 2 is attached by means of screws 9 to the base 2, such that an adjustment of the adapter 5 yields relative to the foot. 2 The possibility of adjusting the adapter 5 is created by means of perforations 10 , which are each seen in particular in the longitudinal direction of the foot 2 and are larger than the shaft diameter of the screws 9 . The adapter 5 can therefore be moved relative to the foot 2 in the direction of the double arrow X. For an adjustment of the adapter 5 , the screws ben 9 are loosened briefly and tightened again after adjustment. The screw heads of the screws 9 are arranged in chamber-shaped recesses 11 of the adapter 5 .
Fig. 2) eingeklemmt. The adapter 5 , which may have an approximately rectangular basic shape and a cross-sectional profile adapted to the channel 8 , also carries the fastening screws 12 for fastening the complete roof rails to the vehicle roof. The fixing screws 12 each have an upper, into threaded bores of the adapter 5-drilling threaded shank 13 and a bottom, the holes 14 in the hole pattern of the body passing through threaded shaft 15, which each receives a nut on. A clamping flange 16 is located between the threaded shafts 13, 15 . By more or less screwing the fastening screws 12 into the threaded holes of the adapter 5 , a height tolerance compensation can be achieved if required. The body panel is clamped between these and the clamping flanges 16 (see. Fig. 2) after tightening the nuts.
The adapter 5 can (see FIG. 2) be formed at its longitudinal ends with material projections 17 which enable the end "shelter" of strips (not shown) to be arranged in the channel 8 .
It goes without saying that a roof railing of the type described above is to be arranged on both longitudinal sides of the roof surface of a vehicle and in each case comprises at least one spar 1 and two support feet 2 together with an adapter.
The embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4 differs from that of FIGS. 1 and 2 essentially only in that here the adapter 5 is arranged in a recess 18 formed in the contact surface 3 of the associated foot. This embodiment is advantageous if a vehicle roof 6 is designed without channels 8 . Otherwise, the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 is provided with the reference numerals also used in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
