Description
Process for the production of carbon oxysulfide and carbon disulfide. So far none of the various ways in which carbon oxysulphide can be formed found a technical application; either the yields were very low or the raw materials are difficult to obtain. On the other hand, it becomes carbon disulfide technically produced exclusively by the action of sulfur vapor on glowing coal.
B. Schwefeldioxyd, verwenden. It has now been found that carbon oxysulfide and carbon disulfide can be used from carbon oxide and sulfur in the presence of suitable contact substances, such as. B. Iron, charcoal, active charcoal and the like, can easily be obtained if one at higher Temperatures, especially those between about 400 to 600 ° C., works. Instead of the sulfur can also be sulfur-yielding compounds, such as. B. sulfur dioxide, use.
Beispiel i.Example i.
Carbon dioxide becomes above or through close to the vaporization temperature heated sulfur passed and the carbon oxide-sulfur vapor mixture of the action a catalyst made of iron or iron sulfur and heated to .450 ° exposed. There is an extensive to complete recovery of the sulfur reached with the carbon monoxide to carbon oxysulfide and carbon disulfide; as a by-product carbon dioxide is produced. The gas mixture obtained has approximately the following composition: 10 to 15 percent by volume carbon disulfide, 65 to 7o percent by volume carbon oxy sulfide, 2o volume percent carbonic acid.
Beispiel a.Example a.
Das erhaltene Gasgemisch eist aber reicher an Kohlendioxyd als in Beispiel i.Carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide become in the proportion of about 3 volumes Carbon dioxide to one volume of sulfur dioxide over charcoal heated to 4.0o to 500o directed; carbon oxysulfide and carbon disulfide are formed in good yield. However, the gas mixture obtained is richer in carbon dioxide than in Example i.
That consisting of carbon oxysulfide, carbon disulfide and carbon dioxide Gas mixture can often be used directly, or it can be fractionated Condensation or by means of adsorption on suitable active substances, e.g. B. by means of active charcoal, decomposing into its constituent parts without difficulty, or of carbon dioxide to free.
