Description
Method and machine for blowing hollow glass bodies by means of steam. In the known method for blowing hollow glass bodies by means of steam it often happens that too much at once as a result of the irregular water supply Water is evaporated, creating an overpressure that ruptures the inflated Hollow glass body has the consequence.
The invention now provides a method by which it is possible, the possibly occurring and the glass shattering overpressure automatically to catch, so that a disintegrating effect can not occur. The catching device forms a buffer, which of course corresponds to the size of the hollow glass body to be produced can be adjusted.
In the drawing, the invention is shown schematically, namely a tube with a mercury column is intended as an embodiment for the buffer or pressure equalizer. The space x of the blow mold d, in which the water vapor is formed, i.e. the interior of the hollow glass body, is connected by a line g to a tube h, i in which the mercury is located. In the illustrated embodiment, this tube h is curved in a serpentine manner and ends in the ascending tube i with the upper container k. The overpressure can be read on a scale. If the overpressure in the bubble space x rises, the mercury column in the tube h, i will recede and the steam will push in, so that an equalization takes place with an increase in volume and a decrease in pressure until the weight of the mercury column on the steam equals the steam pressure. Suddenly occurring excess steam pressure is! thus canceled or reduced by the partial emptying of the coiled pipe and the corresponding expansion of the steam, so that a disadvantageous effect of such overpressures can no longer occur. One can of course adjust the degree of mobility of the mercury column in a suitable manner.
When blowing large bodies, one can use several such compliant remedies provide that work independently of one another and can be switched off or on individually can.
Instead of the mercury column you can of course each use other yielding agents, e.g. B. movable pistons, diving bells o. The only thing that is essential is the automatic catching by increasing the space, which the Prevents the creation of overpressure.
