Abstract

The hand operated pump (2) of the discharge mechanism has an outlet passage (16) from a pump chamber (13) to the discharge opening (17). A control is provided to lock one or more valves in position. The pump is pref. of the plunger type, with a stem (11) on the plunger (10), while the chamber is connected to the outlet passage by a valve (15). A section (39) of the stem between the valve and an operating head (18) is shortened to open the valve. The section is positively prevented from opening the valve during the first part of the plunger stroke, but is then released for shortening under the effect of the chamber pressure.
