Abstract

The decompression valve is fitted to a medical sphygmomanometer and provides a means of controlling the rate of deflation. It comprises a recess (10) in the top of the pressurising bulb holder (1), a plastic seat (12) being fitted in the top. A tubular housing (14) holds a taper coil spring (13), acting on a valve pin (6) to keep the valve closed. This valve pin has a double taper, the first (7) to come into operation being a slow taper and the second being a larger diameter rapid taper. The valve is operated by a push lever (9).
