Description
Process for the production of lacquers, impregnating agents and the like. It is known that acetyl cellulose is soluble in anhydrous ethylene chlorohydrin which contains small amounts of water. On the other hand, the commercially available acetyl cellulose with an acetic acid content of more than 50 percent do not dissolve in the highly hydrous ethylene chlorohydrin.
The surprising observation has now been made that acetyl cellulose with a content of less than 50 percent acetic acid dissolves extremely easily in highly hydrous ethylene chlorine to produce technically valuable paints, film solutions, impregnation and printing solutions and the like. Even a solution mixture of do percent ethylene chlorohydrin and 60 percent water results in perfect solutions that dry up to be clear, while more highly acetylated cellulose is practically insoluble in this mixture. You can even use a mixture of 30 percent ethylene: lorhydrin and 70 percent water if you add a little acetone or alcohol to this mixture.
Beispiel I.The advantage of the 'water-ethylene chlorohydrin mixtures as a solvent for low acetylated cellulose compared to known solvents such as acetone, Alcohol-ethyl acetate mixtures are cheap and completely non-combustible of the solutions, so that such paints do not have any restrictions on the risk of fire, Shipping, storage and processing methods are subject. You can do these solutions too add suitable dyes and softening agents or resins in affect their properties. Example I.
ro Gewichtsteile Acethylcellulose mit einem Gehalt von 47 Prozent Essigsäure werden in einem Gemisch von q.o Gewichtsteilen Äthvlenchlorhydrin und 5o Gewichtsteilen Wasser gelöst.ro parts by weight of acetyl cellulose with a content of 47 percent Acetic acid are in a mixture of q.o parts by weight of Äthvlenchlorhydrin and 5o parts by weight of water dissolved.
Beispiel II.Example II.
Diese Lösung kann vorteilhaft für Imprägnierungszwecke verwendet werden.8 parts by weight of an acetyl cellulose with _13 percent acetic acid content «-Erden in 4.9 parts by weight of Äthylenchlorhy and 4 3 parts by weight of water dissolved with the addition of a parts by weight of p-toluenesulfonic acid ethylamide. This solution can advantageously be used for impregnation purposes.
