Die Oberhemden, deren Brusteinsätze geplättet bzw. gepreßt werden sollen, werden so über einen Tisch i gestülpt, daß der Halsausschnitt bzw. Dieser Spanner, aus einzelnen radial und zwangläufig einstellbaren Segmenten 3 bestehend, ist vorher durch Drehen eines Gewindedeckels 4 auf seinen kleinsten Umfang zurückgedreht. Der Halsbund wird um den Körper 2 herumgelegt und ausgerichtet, worauf das Spannband 5 außen um den Halsbund gelegt wird. Die beiden äußeren Enden des Metallbandes 5 sind in geeigneter Form an je einem Gewindestein 6 befestigt, die ihrerseits jeder für sich auf dem Rechts- und Linksgewinde einer Spindel 7 sitzen. Durch Drehen der Spindel 7 f mittels eines Handrädchens 8 bewegen sich die Gewindesteine und damit auch die beiden Enden des Spannbandes gegeneinander oder voneinander, wobei sich die Spannweite des Bandes 5 verändert, etwa wie in Abb. 3 punktiert angedeutet ist. Um die Spannweite des Bandes der gewünschten Halsweite entsprechend einstellen zu können, trägt der eine Gewindestein eine mit Gradeinteilung versehene Skala 9, über welche ein am anderen Gewindestein sitzender Zeiger io sich bewegt. Nach dem Einstellen des Spannbandes 5 auf die gewünschte Halsweite wird es also über den Halsbund des Oberhemdes geschoben, worauf der Spannkörper 2 mit seinen Segmenten 3 durch Drehen des Gewindedeckels 4 so eingestellt und festgedreht wird, daß der Halsbund ummittelbar zwischen dem Spannband 5 und den Spannsegmenten 3 eingeklemmt ist.
