Description

Process for the production of sulphurous acid gases from sulphite pulp waste liquors. If artificial or natural sulphates, such as kainite, kieserite, etc., are heated with liquid or dried sulphite liquor, gases which are rich in sulfur dioxide escape. These can be cleaned and processed using known methods on sulfuric acid or they can be collected in water, with which they are converted to sulfuric acid. Reference should be made to the conversion of aqueous sulphurous acid into sulfuric acid by introducing chlorine. The other possible uses for the sulfur dioxide obtained in this way are, as is known, various. In particular, the aqueous sulphurous acid prepared as described above can be used to dissolve the phosphorus content of phosphorites, bones or phosphorus-containing slags. It can also be used to solubilize phosphorus-containing substances in the citrate or citric acid, as well as the gases developing from a sulphite-lye-sulphate mixture in and of themselves exert a disintegrating, ie citric acid-solubilizing effect on phosphorites, for what purpose but it is better to mix and heat the three components, i.e. sulphates, phosphorites and sulphite liquor. PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of sulphurous acid gases from sulphite pulp waste liquor, characterized in that sulphates, such as kainite, kieserite, etc., are heated with the liquid or dried sulphite waste liquor.
