Die ganz oder teilweise neutralisierte Sulfitlösung, in der je nach der Ausgangskonzentration der Bisulfitlauge festes Sulfit suspendiert ist, wird mittels schwefliger Säure wieder in Natriumbisulfit umgewandelt und die dem zugeführten Natriumbicarbonat entsprechende Bisulfitmenge fest oder als Lauge gewonnen.
