Die in rohen Anthrazenölen sowie in den hieraus durch Eindickung hergestellten Teerfettölen vorhandenen Teersäuren sind größtenteils in dem Öl zwar in fester Form, aber in so feiner Verteilung enthalten, daß es nicht möglich ist, diese die Schmierfähigkeit beeinträchtigenden und auch sonst nachteiligen Festkörper durch die üblichen mechanischen Mittel, wie Abseihen oder Filtrieren, zu entfernen. Hierbei werden die gelösten Salze innerhalb der Olmasse als feste Körper in ziemlich feiner Verteilung ausgeschieden und die feinen entstehenden Salzkristalle wirken durch Oberflächenanziehung zusammenballend auf die feinen, im Öl schwebenden Phenolteilchen ein, so daß sich diese in Flocken an die Salzteilchen anlegen und durch diese Salzteilchen mit zu Boden gerissen werden. Von dem entstehenden Niederschlag kann das gereinigte 01 mit oder ohne Anwendung einer Filtration abgezogen und entweder in diesem Zustand dem Verbrauch oder einer weiteren, auf Ausfällung der gelösten und noch schwebenden Teersäure, sowie auf die erwünschte Eindickung des Öles gerichteten Behandlung zugeführt werden.
