Abstract

The combustion gas outlet (3) from a boiler (2) is connected tothe flue (4) by a housing (11). The housing has an opening in its upper wall which can be closed by a hinged flap (14). The flap is connected to a counter-balance weight (17) which tends to hold the flap in the closed position. The flap swings inwards as the depression in the housing increases and reduces the effective cross-sectional area of flow through the housing inlet (18).
