Diese Stütz- und/oder Abschirmmulde dient dazu, unterhalb der Kochplatte angeordnete Heizelemente zu tragen und den Raum unterhalb des Einbau-Kochfeldes gegenüber der von den Heizelementen ausgehenden Wärme abzuschirmen bzw. eine Berührung der Heizelemente unmöglich zu machen. Zwischen dem Profilrahmen eines solchen Einbau-Kochfeldes und der Arbeitsplatte des entsprechenden Küchenmöbels ist bei dem bekannten Einbau-Kochfeld ">o eine Dichtung vorgesehen.
