Description

The invention relates to a wide-necked glass jar with a screw-on and screw-off lid and with a molded-on transfer ring.

Wide-necked jars of the type described above are known. The transfer ring is a ring-shaped bead formed in the area of the threaded neck section of the jar below the thread, by which the jar can be gently gripped during production using a suitable tool.

The problem with wide-necked jars of the type described above is that it cannot be determined with certainty whether the screw-on lid has already been loosened and unscrewed after the wide-necked jar has been filled, for example in a pharmaceutical company or in a pharmacy, or whether the jar is still in its original state in which the lid was first screwed on.

The present invention is based on the object of designing a wide-necked jar of the type described above in a simple and cost-effective manner so that it can be reliably recognized whether the wide-necked jar is still in its original state or has already been opened.

This object is achieved according to the present invention in that the transfer ring extends over the threads arranged above in a radial direction on the outside and that the transfer ring defines a sliding bevel on its upper side facing the thread and forms an area on its underside facing away from the thread that can be gripped by the holding segments of a tamper-evident ring, so that when a lid equipped with a tamper-evident ring is screwed on, the holding segments of the tamper-evident ring slide over the sliding bevel and

expand elastically and finally snap into a rear grip position with the grippable area of the transfer ring and when the lid is unscrewed the tamper-evident ring remains in the rear grip position and is released from the lid.

The invention therefore proposes to design the transfer ring in such a way that it can be used in conjunction with a closure lid having a tamper-evident ring and forms a rear grip for the tamper-evident ring, so that the tamper-evident ring is held back by the transfer ring when the lid is unscrewed and remains on the neck section of the wide-neck jar.

The term tamper-evident ring is to be understood in the broadest sense as a security element which is formed on the closure cap via one or more predetermined breaking points and which remains on the container to be sealed when the closure cap is unscrewed.

Figure 1 is a side view of a wide-necked jar with a half-opened lid with tamper-evident ring;

Figure 1 shows a wide-necked jar 2 with a screwable closure lid 4 shown halfway in section. The wide-necked jar comprises a neck section 6 with a molded-on thread 8 onto which the lid can be screwed. The thread runs downwards towards a transfer ring 10, by which the wide-necked jar 2 can be gripped and handled with a tool during production. The transfer ring 10 forms a ramp 12 on its upper side facing the thread and an area 14 on its underside that can be gripped behind by a tamper-evident ring 16 molded onto the closure lid 4.

Flange end 20 of the closure cap 4 is formed. The tamper-evident ring 16 comprises holding segments 22 that project radially inwards and, as indicated in Figure 1, engage the grippable area 14 of the transfer ring 10 from behind. When the closure cap is screwed on, the tamper-evident ring 16 slides with the free end 24 of its holding segments 22 over the sliding slope 12 in order to finally snap into the gripping position shown in Figure 1. If the closure cap 4 is unscrewed starting from this tamper-evident state shown in Figure 1, the tamper-evident ring 16 is initially rotated along with the closure cap 4 until the holding segments 22 come into contact with the grippable area 14. If the cap is unscrewed further, the weak webs 18 break and the tamper-evident ring 16 remains on the neck section 6 of the glass.

Figure 2 illustrates preferred dimensions of the wide-neck glass according to Figure 1. This has an outer diameter Dl of the threaded section 26 of the neck section 6 of 55 mm. In the area of the seam, the section 26 is flattened and has a diameter of about 54 mm there. The diameter D2 on the outside of the section 26 without taking the threads into account is about 51 mm, less 1 mm in the area of the seam. The

The inner diameter D3 of the neck section 6 is approximately 45 ± 1 mm. The radii of curvature Rl to R4 are: Rl = 1 mm, R2 = 1.6 mm, R3 = 1.2 mm and R4 = 1.2 mm. The transfer ring 10 is bevelled but nevertheless rounded on its upper side, which forms the sliding bevel 12. The radius of curvature R5 shown in the figure is 2.5 mm. In the transition area from the sliding bevel 12 to the rear grip area 14, a radius of curvature R6 of at most 0.6 mm is provided. The grip area 14 is essentially designed as a flat ring disk surface which runs essentially horizontally with an inclination of 6° to the horizontal. The outer diameter D4 of the transfer ring 10 is 59 mm, which is 4 mm larger than the outer diameter Dl. The height H of the area of the transfer ring 10 that projects radially beyond the thread 8 is approximately 4 mm.

Claims (8)

Protection claims 1. Wide-necked glass (2) with a screw-on and unscrewable closure cap (4) and with a transfer ring (10) formed on the wide-necked glass, characterized in that the transfer ring (10) radially overlaps the threads (8) arranged above and that the transfer ring (10) defines a sliding bevel (12) on its upper side facing the thread and on its underside facing away from the thread, a retaining segment (22) of a tamper-evident ring (16) forms an area (14) that can be gripped behind, so that when a lid (4) equipped with an authenticity ring (16) is unscrewed, the holding segments (22) of the authenticity ring (16) slide over the sliding slope (12) and expand elastically in the process and finally snap into an engaging position with the area (14) of the transfer ring (16) that can be gripped behind, and when the lid (4) is unscrewed, the authenticity ring (16) remains in the engaging position and is released from the lid (4). 2. Wide-necked glass according to claim 1, characterized in that the grippable region (14) of the transfer ring (10) is designed to run essentially straight. 3. Wide-necked glass according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the grippable region (14) of the transfer ring (10) is designed to be substantially horizontal and flat. 4. Wide-necked glass according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the lid (4) is a plastic lid. 5. Wide-neck glass according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the outer diameter of a thread-bearing section (26) of the neck section (6) is more than 27 mm, preferably more than 50 mm. 6. Wide-necked glass according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the transfer ring (10) in the transition area of the sliding slope (12) to the area that can be gripped behind (14) has a radius of curvature of at most 0.6 mm. 7. Wide-neck glass according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the outer diameter (Dl) of the thread-bearing section (26) of the neck section (6) is between 50 and 60 mm and that the outer diameter (D4) of the transfer ring (10) approximately 3 to 5 mm larger than the outer diameter (Dl) of the section (26). 8. Wide-neck glass according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the outer diameter (Dl) of the thread-bearing section (27) of the neck section (6) is between 50 and 60 mm and the height of the area of the transfer ring that projects radially beyond the outer diameter (Dl) of the neck section is 3.5 to 4.5 mm.
