Vorrichtung zur Verbrennung von Holzpellets oder anderer rieselfähiger fester BrennstoffeDevice for burning wood pellets or other free-flowing solid fuels
In all previously known devices for burning wood pellets, these fuels are burned in a burner pot arranged in a combustion chamber. The necessary combustion air is supplied from below and/or from the side. The degassing products are always burned upwards. However, this can cause combustion residues to build up at the bottom of the burner pot and block the combustion air supply to the burner pot, which can lead to a change in the direction of the flame in the event of incomplete combustion and to increased contamination of a viewing window that is usually arranged in the combustion chamber. In addition, overheating of the ember bed due to the high proportion of primary air can cause the ash to sinter into compact lumps that have to be removed by hand. If the device is not cleaned regularly, electrical ignition of the fuels can also be hindered because the hot air required for this can no longer flow in. Since these devices are equipped with an automatic fuel supply, the hot gases drawn upwards can cause excessive thermal stress on the fuel supply with the known disadvantages.

To avoid these problems, the present invention proposes a device for burning wood pellets or other free-flowing solid fuels with a combustion chamber delimited by fireproof walls and a collecting device for the fuels arranged in the combustion chamber, which divides the combustion chamber into a pre-combustion chamber and an afterburning chamber and into which the fuels can be introduced by means of a conveying device, which is characterized according to the invention in that the collecting device is provided with one or more slots or openings and an exhaust flue provided with a fan is arranged in the afterburning chamber below the collecting device. The fan ensures that the exhaust is already at the start of the combustion process. With conventional log-fired furnaces, problems often arise here because the chimney vacuum is not sufficient when the device and chimney are cold to start the combustion process quickly enough. A screw conveyor with or without a subsequent fuel chute can be used as a conveying device for the fuels. Advantageously, the conveyor device can end vertically above the collecting device so that no direct contact can occur between the pellets in the collecting device and the pellets that are subsequently conveyed, and back-burning is prevented. The downward-facing flame formation also prevents the thermal stress on the fuel supply that has occurred in previously known combustion systems. The collecting device is made of a fireproof material, for example fireclay, sheet steel or cast iron. The fuels accumulate above the slots or openings and can be electrically ignited there, for example by an ignition cartridge. Combustion residues can fall through the slots or openings and be collected, for example, in a collecting container arranged below the collecting device. In an advantageous design, the collecting device can be in or under the

At least one supply for combustion air can be arranged below the at least one slot or the opening of the collecting device. This combustion air supply can be formed, for example, by a pipe with air outlet openings pointing sideways and downwards. The air outlet openings can advantageously be designed in the shape of a slot. In a preferred embodiment, a slot can be provided in the collecting device, with a combustion air supply pipe being arranged in the slot in such a way that two narrow passage slots are formed between it and the slot edges. The size of these passage slots can be adapted to the geometric dimensions of the fuels. The fuels automatically slide from above to the passage slots and are thus fed directly to the bed of embers. The cross-sectional expansion below the slots ensures that combustion residues automatically fall through downwards, with the gravity acting on the combustion residues being supported by the combustion air flow in the same direction. This means that the combustion air supply cannot become dirty. The combustion residues that fall down can then be removed from the combustion chamber by an automatic ash removal system. The at least one combustion air supply can be equipped with an air flow sensor so that the combustion can be optimally adjusted. Further advantages arise if the at least one combustion air supply is led into the area of a viewing window arranged on the combustion chamber so that the combustion air sweeps over the inside of the viewing window. This means that the viewing window is automatically cleaned without additional fresh air having to be supplied through openings above or below the viewing window. These additional window/fresh air openings, as provided in known ovens, can result in an undefined air quantity in the system, which can lead to excessive speeds.

This can lead to the extraction fans being too loud. In addition, the small air inlet openings in the viewing window can cause annoying noise. The at least one air supply can also be arranged in a rotating manner and provided with projections on its surface, which achieves an even better discharge of combustion residues. The device according to the invention can also be used as a heating boiler via heating gas heat exchangers connected downstream or located directly in the combustion chamber. By using wood pellets or comparable fuels, the disadvantages known with logs such as smoldering, tar and soot formation and overheating can be excluded due to the precise controllability of the combustion process. This means that a thermal discharge safety device, as is necessary for log boilers, can be dispensed with, which enables a significant price reduction.
However, the device according to the invention can also be designed as a tiled stove heating insert, fireplace stove or fireplace heating insert.
A preferred embodiment of a device according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.

According to Fig. 1, the combustion device 10 has a combustion chamber 11 in which a collecting device 12 for fuels 13, here wood pellets, is arranged. The collecting device 12 divides the combustion chamber 11 into a pre-combustion chamber 11.1 and a post-combustion chamber 11.2. The wood pellets 13 reach the collecting device 12 via a conveyor screw 14 shown in Fig. 2 and a subsequent fuel chute 15. The fuel chute 15 ends above the collecting chamber 12 so that no direct contact can occur between the sliding fuels 13 and the fuels already in the collecting device 12. This reliably prevents the risk of back-burning. The collecting device 12 has a central longitudinal slot 16 (Fig. I) 7 in which a combustion air supply pipe 17 is arranged. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the combustion air supply pipe 17 has several air passage openings 18 directed laterally and downwards. The pipe 17 is arranged in the slot 16 in such a way that two narrow through slots 18 and 19 are formed between it and the edges of the slot 16. Combustion residues can fall through these slots 18 and 19 into a collecting container 20 at the bottom of the device 10. Fresh fuels then slide down to the slots 18 and 19. In the lower area of the device 10, i.e. below the collecting device 12, an exhaust duct 21 with a heat exchanger is arranged, which ensures that the flames in the device 10 according to the invention develop downwards. The air flow thereby supports the falling of combustion residues through the slots 18 and 19, so that they cannot contaminate either the air supply pipe 17 or the collecting device 12. Above the combustion air supply pipe 17 there is an electrical ignition device 22 which is in direct contact with the fuel 13 and can therefore ignite it unhindered.

As shown in Fig. 2, the combustion air supply pipe 17 is provided with an air flow sensor 23 and is guided in the area of a viewing window 24, which is arranged on a door 25 of the combustion chamber 11. In the area of the viewing window 24, the pipe 17 is provided with openings 26 through which air can flow out and, guided by a guide plate 27, can flow along the inside of the window 24. This results in automatic cleaning of the viewing window 24 from the inside, without additional window air having to be introduced from the outside in the area of the window 24.
