Description:

The invention relates to a cabinet and/or shelving system with the features of the preamble of claim 1.

Due to their structural design, conventional shelving systems are characterized by a low level of variability in the function and composition of the individual modules as well as their size and place considerable demands on skills during construction, i.e. assembly.

In addition, assembleable cabinet and/or shelving systems are often associated with a high level of instability and, last but not least, involve high packaging and storage costs due to the large volume.

The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a cabinet and/or shelving system that is characterized by a high degree of variability in the function and composition of the individual modules, by simple and quick assembly and a small space requirement for storage and transport, while at the same time being highly stable and requiring little construction effort.

This object is achieved in a cabinet and/or shelving system of the type mentioned at the beginning with the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the subclaims.

Because at least the side walls have flanges that serve to secure a wall connecting them and because the wall has devices that can be brought into effective engagement with the flanges, it is possible to provide the individual modules with a rear wall, for example, without this requiring a great deal of assembly work. Rather, the rear wall can be brought into effective engagement directly with the flanges of the side walls, thus achieving a high level of stability for the individual modules and accordingly also for the entire system.

If the upper end is designed as a lid and the lower end as a base and the lid is designed to at least partially encompass the side walls that define a module, at least in the upper area, then this also creates the possibility of assembling the individual components of such a cabinet and/or shelving system in the simplest possible way, while at the same time ensuring that the individual components, e.g.

can be transported and stored inside each other during storage.

If the base is designed to at least partially encompass the side walls that delimit the module, at least in the lower area, this also makes it possible to assemble the individual modules in the simplest way possible, while at the same time ensuring that the individual modules are highly stable, and this without, for example, the need for appropriate measuring procedures for assembly, since the side walls 0 are forced into position within the base and the cover.

If the lid, side walls and base are designed to form a box-shaped module that is largely open at the front and back, this enables a wide range of possible uses for the cabinet and/or shelving system according to the invention, since it can be decided optionally and also variably within the system whether the individual modules should be designed to be completely open at the front and back, or whether the closed wall should be positioned on one side or the other, so that the cabinet and/or shelving system can be designed in an optimal way to be used from both sides, for example as a room divider.

If the lid and side walls as well as the base and side wall are designed to be screwed together, this achieves a maximum level of stability.

If the lid and side walls as well as the base and side wall are designed to be screwed together in the respective corner areas of the lid and base, this will achieve a high level of stability and will also ensure that the variability of the system is not impaired by the screw connections.

If square profiles are provided on the inside of the side walls, and the square profiles have openings on the side facing away from the side wall for securing shelves, door hinges and/or drawers, this will achieve a high level of stability, i.e. strengthening of the side walls when arranging the additional parts, and will also ensure that shelves or other additions to be inserted into the modules can be inserted in the simplest way possible without the need for screwing, e.g. when positioning shelves.

If openings are provided that penetrate the square profile and the adjacent side wall, this creates the possibility of screwing modules arranged next to one another together in the simplest way possible.

If the openings are punched holes with a diameter of 6 mm and the punched holes are arranged at a distance of 32 mm, a grid is selected that ensures the highest degree of variability.

If cover strips designed to be fixed are provided between two modules that are to be screwed together, and if these cover strips are designed as T-pieces, this creates a possibility of fixing the cover strips in that they can be positioned without any additional tools by simply pushing them into the gap between two modules and can then be clamped in place by screwing the two modules arranged next to each other accordingly.

If a base that can be screwed to the module and/or modules arranged next to each other is provided, this ensures that the lowest level of each module can also be positioned at the desired height in this cabinet and/or shelving system.

If the base is provided with an adjustment device for adjusting the height of the cabinet and/or shelving system and the adjustment device is designed to be operable from the interior of the module standing on the base, this can be used to compensate for unevenness in the floor of the cabinet and/or shelving system, for example, without the modules having to be dismantled beforehand; instead, the adjustment device can be operated very easily from the interior of the modules.

If the adjusting device consists of at least one device with a threaded spindle and the threaded spindle is arranged with one end penetrating the base of a module, a robust technology is selected which is characterized by a low susceptibility to failure and easy operation.

Overall, it can be stated that a cabinet and/or shelving system is provided here that is characterized by a high level of functionality, especially when using sheet steel.

The high level of functionality is further enhanced by the fact that the dimensions are based on DIN formats. The high variability of the function and composition of the individual modules, also reflected by, for example, 15 different box sizes, whereby the furnishing parts can be exchanged as required, i.e., for example, hanging files and index card inserts can be placed inside the drawers and modules.

Furthermore, the cabinet and/or shelving system according to the invention offers simple and quick assembly, i.e. the system can be screwed together from the outside without any need for counter-locking.

The special construction enables the individual modules and body parts to fit together smoothly and seamlessly.

The system is suitable for a wide range of usage requirements, e.g. office and residential areas.

Furthermore, the structure according to the invention creates a room divider quality, i.e. through the possibility of using both sides of the modules, i.e. both the front and the back.

Furthermore, the structure according to the invention provides the option of being modified to meet requirements, i.e. the system can be expanded or supplemented.

Due to its structure, the system according to the invention can be adapted to any room situation and any space requirement, i.e. it can be constructed variably, as a composition of different body sizes as well as a composition of the same body sizes.

Due to the kit construction, the entire system can be dismantled and thus packed in a space-saving manner. This enables optimal use of transport capacities and thus improves the environmental balance. From an ecological perspective, a special packaging system with sheet steel boxes was developed in which the individual components of the system can be packed.

The individual components of the system can be manufactured using simple production techniques that also enable cost-effective machine setup. All manufacturing processes are suitable for serial production. The design and dimensions of all modules are coordinated so that common commercially available fittings,

Drawer guides etc. can be used. Custom-made products are not required. Required additional elements are reduced to a minimum. The ability to dismantle and space-saving packaging of all modules enables optimal use of transport and storage capacities.

The inventive design ensures that the lid, base and sides are flush.

Furthermore, the module connections can be seen and operated from the front, i.e. they can be operated in the simplest way possible.

In the example shown here, 0.7 mm sheet steel was used. The rear wall is inserted into the flange from the inside, as previously described. The flanges each protrude 1 cm.

As can be seen from Figure 1, the cabinet and/or shelving system 1 according to the invention is essentially made up of various modules or boxes 2, 3, 4, 5 which, in the present embodiment, are arranged and fixed on bases 6, 7, 8.

The bases 6,7,8 have rubber strips 9 on their side facing away from the boxes 2,3,4,5, i.e. the side facing the floor.

The boxes 2, 3, 4, 5 forming the cupboard and/or shelving system 1 can be designed to be open on their front side or, if necessary, on their back side, as can be seen from the middle modules 3, 4 in Figure 1, or they can also be provided with doors 10 which can have, for example, handles 11.

The modules or boxes 2,3,4,5 can also be provided with shelves 12,13, as can be seen from the middle boxes 3,4 in Figure 1.
As can be seen from Figure 1, the individual boxes 2, 3, 4, 5 each have two side walls 14, 15 as well as a base and lid 17.

In addition, the gap 18 created between two boxes 2,3;3,4;4,3;3,5 arranged adjacent to one another or their side walls 14,15 can be covered with a cover strip 19, whereby the cover strip 19 in the present embodiment, as can be seen from Figure 6, is fixed to a T-piece 20, e.g. by gluing, and the T-piece 20 is fixed with its web 21 in the gap 18, e.g. by clamping.

Furthermore, as can be seen from Figure 7, it is also possible to dispense with the cover strip 19 and simply arrange and clamp a T-piece 20 in the joint 18 in the manner described above.

This T-piece as shown in Figure 7 can be made of metal, plastic, wood or another type of material.

However, as can be seen from Figures 2, 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d and 11, such a cover strip 19 or a T-piece 20 can also be dispensed with, so that the outer sides of the side walls 14, 15 are arranged directly adjacent to one another and the joint 18 appears as a design element over its entire length, i.e. the boxes 2, 3, 4, 5; 22, 23 arranged next to one another are arranged in direct contact with one another.

As can also be seen from Figure 2, the individual modules or boxes 22, 23 can be designed differently not only in terms of their width, as shown in Figure 1, but also in terms of their height. Furthermore, the boxes 23 can be designed as drawers, i.e. provided with so-called drawers 24, which each have a handle 26 on their front panel 25 in the present embodiment.

In the present embodiment, the drawer 24 is provided with a single pull-out 27, as can be seen from Figure 15.

In the embodiment according to Figure 2, the individual modules or boxes 22, 23 were also placed on bases 28 provided with rubber strips 9.

As a further embodiment, Figure 3 shows the high variability of the cabinet and/or shelving system 1, i.e. a selection of different box sizes that can then be connected to one another accordingly.

Figure 4 shows the structure of the side and rear walls 29,15 in a partial drawing in section through the rear wall 29 and side wall 15 of a box 22.

As can also be seen from Figure 4, the side wall 15 has a beveled area 30 at its ends, which initially forms a transition from the side wall of the box 22 into the front or rear area 32, 33 of the box 22 by means of a 90° bevel 31.

At the end of this folded section 31 there is then a flange 34, 35 which is largely U-shaped and whose open end is arranged diametrically opposite the opposite flange of the side wall 15.

As can be seen from Figure 13, the beading 3 5 ends at its upper and lower ends at a distance from the top and bottom 37,38, the side wall 14,15, i.e. it ends in the form of a fermentation.

As can be seen from Figures 13 and 14, the side walls 14, 15 are designed to be beaded on their upper and lower edges 37, 38 by the sheet thickness of the side wall 14, 15 or the cover 17 or base 16, i.e. both on their outer side 41 and on their front and rear areas 32, 33 in order to achieve a flush connection between the cover and side wall 14, 15 as well as the base 16 and side wall 14, 15.

As can be seen from Figure 13, the lid 17 and the base 16 have, on both their front and rear sides 39,40, a design that is compatible with the front and rear sides of the side walls 14,15, i.e. the lid and base 16 also have, on their sides forming the front and rear areas 39,40 of the boxes 2,3,4,5,22,23, a section 42 bent at 90° and an adjoining bead 43,44 that is designed to be compatible with the bead 34,35 of the side walls 14,15 and is also U-shaped, with the bead 44 of the lid arranged opposite one another

and 43 of the base 16 are arranged with their open side of the U facing each other.

The sides of the lid 17 and the base 16 are also provided with a 90° edge 45, as is the front side, and together enclose the recessed upper or lower edge of the side walls 14,15 and thus form a box 2,3,4,5,22,23.

The arrangement of the side walls 14,15 as well as the lid and base 16,17, as shown in Figure 13, creates a circumferential closed U-shaped flange 34,35,43,44 on the front and back of the box (2,3,4,5,22,23), which is arranged and designed with its open U pointing towards the inside of the box (2,3,4,5,22,23).

As can be seen from Figures 4, 5, 6, the side walls 14, 15 each have a square profile 46, 47 on their inner side in the respective end area, which extends over the entire height and is fixed to the respective side wall 14, 15 via a corresponding weld or in another way.

In the present embodiment, the square profiles 46, 47 have a dimension of 14 x 60 mm and have on their inside, i.e. the side 48 facing the inside of the box, punched holes 49 with a diameter of 6 mm in the present embodiment.

The hole punches 49 are arranged at a distance of 32 mm from each other over the entire height of the square profiles 46, 47 and serve, as can be seen from Figure 4, to accommodate and position brackets 50, for example.

The fourth hole from the top and bottom, i.e. from the bottom or cover 17 in the square profiles 46,47 is designed to be continuous, i.e. it not only breaks through the,

the side 48 of the square profile 46,47 facing the inside of the box but also its rear side and the adjoining side wall 14,15 and serves, as can be seen from Figure 6, to fix two boxes 2,3 arranged next to each other, in the present embodiment by means of sleeve nuts and screws 51,52.

A 6 mm thread is cut into the second and third holes from the top and bottom to allow the door hinges (not shown here) to be screwed on.

As can be seen from Figures 4 and 5, the rear wall consists of a sheet metal that is folded over at its ends, i.e. has an edge at an angle of 90°, which, if required, i.e. a rear wall 2 9 is to be arranged, can be pushed into the U-shaped flange 34,35,43,44 that runs around the side and is open to the inside of each box 2,3,4 and can thus be placed there without the need for screwing.

As can be seen from Figure 6, boxes 2, 3 arranged next to one another are screwed together on the sides 14, 15 facing one another by means of sleeve nuts 51 and sleeve screws 52 penetrating the continuous punched holes and are thus releasably placed relative to one another.

The boxes 2,3 can be screwed together in direct contact with each other or can also be arranged in a gap between them, whereby in these resulting gaps 18, as can be seen from Figure 6, for example a T-profile 20 with glued-on wooden strip 19 is inserted, i.e. the web 21 of the T-profile 20, whereby this web 21 leaves out the screw connection 51,52.

Alternatively, it is also conceivable to insert rubber or steel profiles into the joint 18, i.e. to fix them there.

In the present embodiment, the wooden strip 19 and the associated T-profile 20 do not run the entire length of the box 2,3,4,5, but end at a distance from the corner area of each box 2,3,4,5, as can be seen in Figure 1, so that with four boxes 2,3,4,5 abutting each other in their corner areas, the image shown in Figure 8 is created, i.e. the screw connection of the lid or base and side wall is visible and both sets optical accents and enables subsequent handling of the screw connection.

As can be seen from Figures 13 and 14, the side walls each have a 90° bend at their upper ends 37,38 and thus also close the otherwise open square profiles 46,47.

As can also be seen from Figure 14, the side walls 14, 15 each have an opening 53 on their edge areas 30 for fastening the cover 17 or the base 16, whereby the cover 17 as well as the base 16 have openings 54 designed to be compatible therewith in their corner areas.

The square profiles 46, 47 have compatible openings in their upper and lower end areas, which are provided with a thread so that the cover 17 or base 16 can be screwed on using a corresponding screw, as shown in Figures 8, 9, 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d and Figure 13.

In addition, as can be seen from Figure 13, the base 6,7,8,28 has a structure consisting of side walls 55,56 and front and rear sides 57.

The base side walls 55, 56 have on their outside end bead-like folds offset inwards by the sheet thickness of the front and back, so that the outside of the side walls 55, 56 form a flat surface with the outer edges of the front and back 57 of the base.

As can be seen from Figure 5, square profiles 58 are also arranged at the ends of the side parts 55, 56 of the base, so that, as previously described for the side walls 14, 15, the front or rear side 57 of each base can be screwed to the corresponding side wall 55, 56 and the square profile 58 arranged therein, as shown in Figure 13.

The base side walls 55, 56 have devices 59 in the area of the square profiles 58 for height adjustment, which, as shown in Figures 5 and 13, consist of a threaded sleeve 60 with a threaded rod 61 arranged therein and a support plate 62 arranged at the end facing the floor.

The threaded sleeve 60 has a slot 64 at its end facing away from the support plate 62 and, as shown in Figure 5, breaks through an opening 65 provided in the bottom 16 of the box 2 when the box 2 is secured to the base, so that the height can be adjusted with the box 2 in place using a screwdriver, for example.

The box located on the base is screwed to it by the fact that the front and back of the base 57 have a nut 66 fixed below the edge, so that a screw 67 penetrating the bottom 16 of the box comes into effective engagement with this nut 66 and the lowest

The drawer 24, shown in Figure 15, consists of side parts 68, a front part and a rear part 69, 70 (not shown here in Figure 15), which can be locked together in a conventional manner using corresponding locking elements 71.

Before the rear wall 70 of the drawer 24 is inserted, the base 72 is inserted into the grooves 73 provided for this purpose and fixed with self-tapping screws.

However, in a further embodiment it is conceivable to dispense with the base 72 entirely, so that card index boxes and/or hanging files can be hung in the drawer frame then present.

In the present embodiment, the drawer guide is a standard single-extension 27 which is attached under the drawer 68 using self-tapping screws in the frame parts with a 32 mm bore using an expansion sleeve.

The drawer front 25, i.e. the front panel 25, is subsequently hung into the frame front piece 69.

To do this, firstly the handle 2 6 is screwed to the drawer front 25 using a threaded piece with head 74 0.

The threaded piece 74 can be hooked into the drawer front piece 69 and thus secured, whereby the drawer front piece 69 is hollow. 35

As can be seen from Figure 16, the door handle 79, according to the present embodiment, is a round wooden handle which is provided with metal caps 80 at its upper and lower ends.

The round wooden handle 79 has grooves 82 for fastening steel profiles 81, into which steel profiles 81 are inserted, glued and/or locked with a bolt pin 8 3. 15

However, any other type of fastening is also possible.

The steel profile 81 is screwed to the door side surface 85, which is only flanged on the front edge 84, as per detail XVI, and to a flat steel 86 embedded therein and arranged over the entire height, by means of threaded bolts 87, whereby corresponding threaded holes are provided in the flat steel 86.

The door 10 is designed in such a way that it is arranged in the opening left by the all-round beading 34,35,43,44 of each box 2,3,4,5,22,23, i.e. the front side 85 of the door 10 ends with the front edge of the beading 34,35,43,44.

In a further embodiment, it is provided that the front edge 84 of the door 10 has a recess in the area of the steel profiles 81, so that the steel profiles 81 are arranged flush with the front edge 84.

However, in a further embodiment it is also provided to allow the steel profiles 81 to rest on the front side 84 of the door.

As can be seen from Figure 19, the cabinet and/or shelving system 1 according to the invention is based on five different packaging dimensions (160/288/448/736/1184), which enable the packaging of all 25 box variants.

The body elements 14,15,16,17,10,29 can be packed flat and space-saving in five different metal boxes 90,91,92,93,94 of 8 cm height.

Base and drawer components 6,8,24 can be dismantled into the side walls 14,15 and packed flat.

However, with the cabinet and/or shelving system 1 according to the invention, other packaging dimensions are also conceivable.
