Tanks made of thermoplastic material for storing liquids that are hazardous to groundwater, especially flammable liquids, must be installed in a drip tray. A drip tray is not required for plastic containers with a volume of up to 1000 litres if they are provided with an additional tight casing and a leak warning device is installed between the plastic container and the casing.
These conditions have previously been met for plastic containers by providing them with a complete sheet metal casing. The disadvantage of a sheet metal casing is that it is exposed to corrosion, especially in the floor area, so that it must be installed with a clearance from the floor to ensure ventilation. Such sheet metal casings are manufactured using a welded construction, whereby the weld seams or welding points must be protected against corrosion inside and out. In addition to the high material expenditure and the high production costs, such plastic containers with sheet metal casing are also very heavy, which makes handling and bringing such a tank into basements more difficult.
The invention is based on the object of creating a tank which no longer has the above disadvantages.
Diese Aufgabe wird gemäß der Erfindung gelöst durch einen Tank zur Lagerung von Flüssigkeiten, insbesondere brennbaren Flüssigkeiten, mit einem Innenbehälter aus einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff und mit zumindest einem wenigstens die Seitenwände des InnenbehältersThis object is achieved according to the invention by a tank for storing liquids, in particular flammable liquids, with an inner container made of a thermoplastic material and with at least one at least the side walls of the inner container
In addition to multi-layer arrangements, such as single- or multi-layer films, a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the jacket consists of a high-temperature-resistant and highly tear-resistant fabric material. Such fabric materials are made on the basis of glass and/or silicon yarns with additional coatings and are neither flammable nor can they be destroyed by flames. In particular, fabrics based on glass fibers with a high silicon content have a long-term temperature resistance of around 1000 ° C. A container coated in this way not only has a lower weight than a full sheet metal coating, but also has the advantage of corrosion resistance. A tank designed according to the invention is therefore not only easier to handle due to its lower weight, but can also be set up directly on a suitably clean, possibly smoothed floor surface due to the corrosion resistance of the material of the jacket. Complex support structures are not required. By applying an appropriate coating, such a fabric can also be made liquid-tight.
Über den flüssigkeitsdichtenInstead of or in addition to a liquid-tight coating of the fabric material, a further protective jacket made of a liquid-tight, essentially dimensionally stable material, preferably a thermoplastic, can be provided between the jacket made of high-temperature-resistant and highly tear-resistant fabric material and the inner container. This additional protective jacket can be made of a single- or multi-layer film made of thermoplastic, for example by blow molding, which is protected in the same way against external mechanical influences and temperature influences.

The protective cover also ensures that if the inner container leaks, the liquid cannot leak out but is collected.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the inner container on its outside and/or the protective casing on its inside in the area of at least one side wall has a free space extending from the bottom surface of the inner container to its ceiling, in which a mechanical and/or electrically operating leak indicator is arranged. Such a rod-shaped leak indicator, which usually works mechanically according to the float principle, can then be inserted into this free space after the tank has been set up, with its upper indicator end protruding from the free space between the inner container and casing. The free space is expediently created by a corresponding groove-shaped recess in a side wall or a vertical edge of the inner container, so that the outer contours of the casing can be kept smooth and without projections.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, at least one of the surfaces (inner and/or outer surface) of the casing is provided with a metal coating, preferably an aluminum coating. Particularly when using a highly tear-resistant, high-temperature-resistant film or fabric material, such a metal coating offers the advantage that an inner container and/or protective casing made of thermoplastic, for example by blow molding, has increased fire resistance. A casing made of a liquid-tight, aluminum-coated glass and/or mineral fiber fabric ensures that the requirements of fire resistance class F 30 can be met. This means a significant increase in safety standards for plastic tanks for storing flammable liquids, for example heating oil.
Surprisingly, it has been found that when using a liquid-tight, highly tear-resistant and high-temperature-resistant, aluminum-coated fabric material for the jacket, a fire resistance rating of F 30 can be achieved even if, according to one design, the jacket is arranged largely adjacent to the outer surface of the inner container or the protective jacket. The required values for fire resistance can be reliably achieved despite the lack of space between the jacket and the inner container or protective jacket. The further advantage of this design is that such a jacket can be prefabricated to match the outer shape of the inner container and pulled over the container. No special support means are required for this.
Durch die Formstücke werden dann die zwangs-In a further embodiment of the invention, it is provided that in a tetrahedral inner container, shaped pieces are arranged at least in the base area and at least at the corners between the inner container and the casing to create a free space. By arranging such shaped pieces at least in the base area, a free space is created so that in the event of a leak in the inner container, the escaping liquid can flow unhindered to the leak detector. The arrangement of such shaped pieces also offers a manufacturing advantage. Tetrahedral inner containers blown from thermoplastic material generally have well-rounded corners and edges rather than sharply angled ones in order to achieve the most uniform wall thickness possible. When making the casing from a film or fabric material, sewing the individual strips together is much easier if the outer contour of the casing has practically sharp-edged corners and edges, as this simplifies the shape of the cut and only straight seams need to be sewn during production. The shaped pieces then ensure that the necessary
überbrückt.gaps that continually appear in the edges and corners are filled or bridged.
In a further expedient embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the casing, which is made of a flexible material, preferably a film or fabric material, has an opening through which the inner container and/or the protective casing is inserted into the casing. It is expedient here if the upright edge part of the opening of the casing protrudes over the top and/or bottom of the inner container and/or the protective casing and is folded over them. This ensures that not only the side walls but also the top and/or bottom are enclosed by the casing. In a further expedient embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the overlapping edge parts of the opening of the casing are connected to one another. This can be done, for example, by lacing, buttons or even snap fasteners.
This means that the jacket is positively and firmly connected to the inner container and/or the protective jacket, so that a tank designed in this way can be easily handled for storage, transport and assembly after completion.
To improve handling, the invention further provides that the inner container and/or the protective casing has molded-on handle elements on at least two opposing side walls and that the casing, which is made of a flexible material, is provided with corresponding moldings at the same location.

The tank 1 shown in Fig. 1 and 2 for storing heating oil with a capacity of up to 1000 l consists of an inner container 4, which is made from a high-molecular plastic using an extrusion blow molding process, and a jacket 5 that surrounds it on all sides and is made from a flexible, liquid-tight, high-temperature-resistant and tear-resistant fabric material. Since the material of the jacket 5 is corrosion-resistant, such a tank can be placed directly on a smooth floor.
The casing 5 is made from appropriately cut strips of textile material with liquid-tight seams and has an upper opening through which the inner container 4 can be inserted. The protruding edge parts 6 of the opening of the casing 5 are folded over the cover 8 of the inner container 4. In this case, corresponding cutouts 9 are provided in the edge parts so that only the nozzle arrangements 2 protrude through the casing.
On both of its front sides, handle elements 3 are provided which are molded into the walls of the inner container, and which are assigned to corresponding formations sewn onto the casing 5. This means that the empty tank can be easily handled and transported with its casing 5 which fits tightly against the inner container 4, and with the usual dimensions of such 1000 liter containers with a width of 700 mm and a length of just over 1000 mm and a height of around 1600 mm, it can also be transported into the basement through the usual entrances of a house.
Die Schnittdarstellung gem. Fig. 2 zeigt die Zuordnung des im Extrusionsblasverfahren hergestellten Innenbehälters 4 und des aus einem Gewebematerial gefertigtenThe sectional view according to Fig. 2 shows the assignment of the inner container 4 manufactured by the extrusion blow molding process and the inner container made of a fabric material.

After the inner container 4 has been inserted or pushed into the jacket 5, the edge part 6 of the opening 7 of the jacket projects beyond the ceiling 8 of the inner container, as is indicated in Fig. 2. In the edge part 6, as mentioned above, recesses 9 are provided for the connecting pieces 2. The edge part 6 is then folded over the ceiling 8 of the inner container in an overlapping manner, so that only the pieces 2 penetrate the wall of the jacket 5 in the ceiling area.
A top view is shown in Fig. 3. As can be seen from the partial section in Fig. 3, a vertical edge was flattened during the manufacture of the inner container 4, so that a free space 11 extending from the floor to the ceiling is created between the inner container 4 and the casing 5 in this area. A leak detector 12 is inserted into this free space 11 after the tank has been assembled. This arrangement is shown in Fig. 4 in a corresponding vertical section. Since the casing 5 is made of a flexible material, at least in this area, shaped pieces 14 and 15 are inserted on the floor and on the ceiling, by means of which the flexible material of the casing 5 is kept at a distance from the inner container 4.
As the enlarged detailed representations in Fig. 5 µnd show, it is expedient if such shaped pieces 14 and 15 are arranged not only in the corner areas, but at least also in the bottom area of the inner container along the edges, so that here too a free space 16 is created, through which in the event of a leak in the inner container 4 the escaping liquid can flow directly to the leak indicator 12 set in the free space 16.
Figs. 7 to 13 show a further modified embodiment for a tank with a fire-resistant casing. In this embodiment the inner container 4, made of plastic, for example using a blow molding process, is inserted into a container-shaped protective casing 17 that is open at the top and whose opening is closed off with a corresponding lid 17.1. The protective casing 17, like the inner container with its lid 17.1, is made of a thermoplastic plastic, for example using a blow molding process. The lid 17.1 is provided with corresponding openings through which the nozzles 2 of the inner container protrude. The external dimensions of the inner container 4 and the internal dimensions of the protective casing 17 are dimensioned such that the inner container 4 rests against the inner wall of the protective casing 17, except for the vertical recess 18 in the large side surfaces and the ring-shaped recesses 19 in the corner areas (Fig. 9).
As can be seen from detail C of Fig. 8 shown in an enlargement in Fig. 10, the protective sheath 17 is covered on its outside with a sheath 5 made of a flexible, high-temperature-resistant and tear-resistant material, as has already been described for the first embodiment, so that reference can be made to this.
In this embodiment, the casing 5 can essentially be made up as a hose so that it tightly surrounds the vertical side walls, while the edges in the floor area and ceiling area are folded over accordingly.
Die vier unteren Ecken und die vier oberen Ecken sind jeweils mit entsprechend geformten Schutzkappen 21 versehen, die im BodenbereichAs can also be seen from Fig. 10, the bottom is covered by a bowl-shaped bottom plate 20, which at least with its raised edges covers the casing 5 in this area. The four lower corners and the four upper corners are each provided with correspondingly shaped protective caps 21, which in the bottom area
The transition area between the base plate 20 and the adjoining protective cap 21 is shown in Fig. 11 as an enlarged section. The outer edge areas, namely both the vertical edge areas and the horizontal edge areas, are covered with protective profiles 23, which are firmly connected to the protective caps 21. The protective profiles 23 are designed as continuous shell profiles with a profile cross-section adapted to the edge shape, for example a quarter-circle cross-section, as indicated in Fig. 12.
Wie die Schnittdarstellung in Fig. 7 erkennen läßt, ist der Deckel 17.1 mit einem nach innen gezogenen Steckrand 17.2 versehen, so daß der Rand der öffnung des Schutzmantels 17 den Steckrand 17.2 des Deckels 17.1 umgreift, so daß dieThis second embodiment is assembled in such a way that the inner container 4 is inserted into the upwardly open protective casing 17, which is then closed with the lid 17.1. As the sectional view in Fig. 7 shows, the lid 17.1 is provided with an inwardly drawn plug-in edge 17.2, so that the edge of the opening of the protective casing 17 surrounds the plug-in edge 17.2 of the lid 17.1, so that the

The overall arrangement is also smooth on the outside in this area. The flexible temperature-resistant jacket 5 is then pulled onto the protective jacket 17. This can either be made up as a hose, so that in the base area as well as in the area of the cover 17, in the same way as for the first embodiment, corresponding protruding edge parts can be folded over onto the base area on the one hand and onto the cover area on the other.
Die sackförmige Ausbildung kann aber auch umgekehrtThe jacket 5 can also be made into a sack, whereby, for example, the bottom of the sack rests on the cover 17.1 and has corresponding recesses for the connecting pieces 2, while the sack opening is folded over onto the bottom of the protective jacket 17 and then covered by the base plate 20. The sack-shaped design can also be reversed.

5be provided so that the bottom of the sack-shaped casing 5 rests against the bottom of the protective casing 17 and the lid 17.1 is covered by corresponding edge parts of the sack opening.

The corners are then covered with the protective caps 21, which in turn are firmly connected to the protective profiles 23 by means of appropriate connecting means, for example with noses punched out in one part and holes punched out in the other part. The protective caps and the protective profiles cover and reliably hold the edges of the casing 5, particularly in the floor and/or ceiling area, so that no more seams need to be laid in this area.
In this embodiment, too, as can be seen from Fig. 9 and Fig. 13, a corresponding free space is left in the area of a vertical edge through which the leak indicator 12 can be guided between the inner container 4 and the protective casing 17 into the bottom area of the protective casing 17. At the upper end of the leak indicator 12, the associated protective cap 21.1 and the associated corner in the cover 17.1 are provided with a corresponding hole through which the leak indicator is guided outwards.
As can also be seen from Fig. 8, an attachment part 24 made of plastic is molded onto the protective casing 17 during its manufacture and a recess is provided in the casing 5 in this area through which the molded attachment part 24 protrudes outwards. The attachment part 24 is provided with a cover rosette 25 made of sheet metal or plastic, which tightly covers the opening in the casing material 5. A handle element 26 is then attached to the attachment part 24. The illustration in Fig. 8 shows the container in section, only the handle area in a top view.
