Es sind organische 3?arbanstriche auf der Basis von Kalk, Leim und Kasein bekannt. Hierzu wird eine Mischung aus getrocknetem und pulverisiertem Waid je nach Verwendungsart mit Zusätzen von Warmwasser, Kalk, Pottasche und Weizenkleie gekocht, durchgesiebt. Die Substanzen werden im Kaltverfahren zusammengeführt. Das Holzschutzmittel wird durch Streichen, Rollen oder Spritzen auf den entsprechend vorbereiteten Untergrund aufgebracht. Zusätzliche chemische Wirkstoffe oder Lösungsmittel kommen nicht zum Einsatz.
