Description

The invention relates to self-watering bowls for animals, with a horizontal drinking bowl, which is conventionally designed to be approximately hemispherical, thus offering no protection against water sloshing out or splashing out, which wets the surrounding area (stable) or softens it (outdoors) and leads to increased water consumption and drainage problems, whereby animal diseases/contamination cannot be ruled out.

The self-watering bowl according to the invention with a drinking bowl, which may be designed as a spherical bowl, avoids these disadvantages by means of a ring-shaped sheet metal casing which is concave on the inside and which is connected to the upper edge of the bowl and which can be designed as one piece with the bowl or separately from it and rigidly connected to it. This casing prevents the water displaced by the animal towards the edge of the bowl from escaping upwards, breaking like an ocean wave.

Preferred embodiments and further developments of the self-watering bowl according to claim 1 are characterized in claims 2 to 11, of which claims 5 and 8 relate to alternative groups of embodiments, which are represented here by the first or by the second and third embodiments.

In the first embodiment according to Fig. 1 and 2, there is a spherical bowl-shaped sheet metal drinking bowl 10, to the edge of which a concave, circular ring-shaped sheet metal casing 12 of greater height with a trapezoidal profile is integrally connected. This casing 12 consists of a lower conical section 12.1, which forms a ring edge 10/12.1 with the bowl 10, at which the upwardly expanded bowl shows a convex discontinuity on the inside; of a middle, cylindrical, vertical section 12.2 of approximately half the height of the bowl 10, and of an upper conical section 12.3, the opening angle of which is smaller than that of the lower section 12.1 and on which an outward overlap 12.4 is formed, which stiffens the free edge (12.3) of the casing 12. The smallest diameter of the upper section 12.3 is larger than the diameter of the ring edge 10/12.1 and the height of the middle section 12.2 is larger than the

In the second embodiment according to Fig. 3 and 4, there is also a spherical bowl-shaped sheet metal drinking bowl 110, to the edge of which a concave, circular ring-shaped sheet metal casing 112 of smaller height with a triangular profile is connected in one piece. This casing 112 corresponds to the casing 12, but does not have its lower section 12.1, which is simply missing here. A vertical plate 114 consists of a rectangular middle part 114.1 and two rectangular side parts 114.2 and 114.3 (without holes) angled at 90°, which are parallel to one another and lie tangentially on the middle casing section 112.2, which in turn lies on the plate middle part 114.1, so that there are three fastening lines. - The middle part 114.1 has a hole 124 which is above the casing

is provided with a conventional water outlet valve 126 with a valve actuation device 128 that can be operated by the animal. - The middle part 114.1 of the U-shaped profiled plate 114 is flanged to a horizontal pasture barrel outlet 132 with a perforated flat seal 130 in between, which discharges water through the bore 124 to the valve 126, the opening of which points vertically towards the bowl 110.

In the third embodiment according to Fig. 5 and 6, the second embodiment is present twice, but not directly flanged to the pasture barrel outlet 132, but to one of the two slanted ends of a straight horizontal water pipe 234 with a square profile. For this purpose, the pipe ends are each provided with a welded, perforated flange 236, which is screwed to the middle part 114.1 of the plate 114 of one or the other basin with a perforated flat seal 238 in between.

In the middle of the square tube 234 there is a lateral opening 234.1 of the same, which is provided with a flange 240, which is screwed to a flange 132.1 of the pasture barrel outlet 132 with a perforated flat seal 230 in between.

Claims (11)

Expectations 1.) Self-watering bowl for animals, with a horizontal drinking bowl, a water outlet valve associated therewith and a valve actuating device that can be operated by the animal, characterized in that the drinking bowl (10), optionally designed as a spherical bowl, is provided with an internally concave, ring-shaped sheet metal casing (12) at its upper edge (edge 10/12.1). 2.) Self-watering bowl according to claim 1, characterized in that the profile of the circular casing (12) is trapezoidal, wherein its central, cylindrical section (12.2) has vertical surface lines. 3.) Self-watering bowl according to claim 2, characterized in that the upper conical section (12.3) of the casing (12) is inclined more strongly in profile towards the vertical than the lower conical section (12.1) of the casing, which extends radially further inwards and connects to the drinking bowl (10) with an internally convex discontinuity. 4.) Self-watering bowl according to one of claims 1 to 3, the drinking bowl of which is made of sheet metal, characterized in that the sheet metal casing (12) is integrally formed on the drinking bowl (10) and has an overlap (12.4) on its upper section (12.3). 5.)
