Moderne Vakuum-Verpackungssysteme verwenden durchweg Polyäthylen-Beutel. Vielfach ist es üblich, während des Vakuumierens einen Zusatzschlauch in den Beutel einzuführen, um zu sichern, daß tatsächlich die Luft in angestrebtem Maße herausgezogen wird. Ansonsten kann es, vor allem wenn der Beutel wenig gefüllt ist, vorkommen, daß infolge des Zusammenklebens der Folien ein nur bedingt taugliches Vakuum entsteht. Zur Gewährleistung eines Vakuums von industrieller Qualität auch bei einfach handhabbaren Maschinen für den Haushalt oder Freizeitbereich sind seit einiger Zeit Plastikbeutel, die über ein System von Luftkanälen verfügen, im Einsatz (vgl.
