Netze mit elastischen Umfangsfäden haben den Nachteil, daß ihr < ptischer Eindruck von dem rustikalen Bild der ursprünglichen Wurstumschnürung allzuweit entfernt ist und daß sie nur auf das fertige Produkt aufgezogen werden können. Netze mit diagonal verlaufenden Fäden erlauben zwar die endlose Verbindung mit der Wursthaut; jedoch ist auch ihr Bild von dem gewünschten rustikalen Eindruck noch weit entfernt. Dies liegt zum einen daran, daß die einzelnen Netzstränge als Kettgewirke ausgebildet sind, weil sich auf diese Weise die Strangverbindung an den Überkreuzungspunkten einfach und formsicher erzielen läßt. Zum anderen haftet dem Bild der diagonal verlaufenden Fäden etwas Künstliches an. Zum dritten läßt sich bei dem vorherigen Aufbringen solcher Netze auf die schlauchförmig aufgeblasene Wursthaut nicht vermeiden, daß das Netz oberflächlich auf der zylindrischen Wursthaut aufliegt und sich nicht wie die ursprüngliche Umschnürung einfurcht.
