des Indigos.of the indigo.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 14. Mai 1912 ab. Längste Dauer: 20. Dezember 1926.Patented in the German Empire on May 14, 1912. Longest duration: December 20, 1926.
Magnesium leuco compounds of indigo have been produced a long time ago by the double conversion of indigo white alkali with magnesium salts (cf. »Der IndigOK by Georgievics 1892, p. 147). More detailed studies have shown that, analogous to the method protected in the patent claim of the patent 270520 - reduction of the vat dyes by means of hydrosulfite with direct addition of magnesium hydroxide - ■ -, indigo can be converted into a leuco form which is extremely suitable for direct dyeing if the dye is mixed with magnesium hydroxide stirred on the addition of sodium hydrosulfite. This technically very important result is quite surprising. Firstly, it could not be foreseen that in this way (i.e. not through the already known double conversion) a magnesium leuco compound of indigo would be formed at all; secondly, there was the fear that if the leuco compound was stored for a longer period in the presence of excess sodium hydrosulfite, an over-reduction would be harmful to dyeing or even greater indigo losses could arise.
The products that are directly suitable for dyeing are presented either dry or in paste form.
Beispiel ι.Example ι.
ίο kg Indigo trocken, ίο kg lufttrockenes, lockeres Magnesiumhydroxyd und io kg Natriumhydrosulfit werden längere Zeit in der Kugelmühle zusammen verrieben.ίο kg dry indigo, ίο kg air dry, loose magnesium hydroxide and 10 kg of sodium hydrosulphite are used for a long time Ball mill rubbed together.
10 kg indigo, 85 kg io percent magnesium hydroxide paste and 15 kg of sodium hydrosulfite are ground in the ball mill, then the 10% greenish paste is bottled.
The proportions of magnesium hydroxide, hydrosulfite and water can be in wide limits.
In general weaker dyeings are obtained from long liquors and stronger dyeings from short liquors. In addition to the length of the liquor, the temperature also has an influence on dyeing. Cotton pulls better out of cold, Wool from warm baths. Silk is best lukewarm. You have it as a result on hand to achieve any desired effects with mixed textile fibers by either all fibers are dyed evenly (lukewarm) or only one fiber is preferably dyed
Since the overreduction of indigo does not occur, losses of dye are excluded and strengthening the vats presents no difficulty. Another advantage of Indigo's magnesium vats is that you get the depth of the nuance with very good leveling and excellent authenticity can increase to an unprecedented degree. On wool can be used on this ίο way z. B. in a single train almost achieve black colors. Despite the depth, the dyes made in this way are indigo excellent rub and wash fastness. For animal fiber, the fact that the magnesium vat reacts weakly acidic, also of the utmost importance.
