Abstract

In order to prevent the seat from moving after the user has risen and to avoid accident, the rollers are provided with a brake which stops the roller in an unloaded state. The swivel pin has a groove in its upper end to accommodate a circlip for fixing in the chair frame. The swivel pin lower end fits inside a boring in the castor wheel housing which contains a recoil spring and an elongated recess. An annular groove at the lower end of the swivel pin accommodates a pig so that a load applied to the swivel pin will press the swivel pin to the lower limit of the recess. The spring returns the pin when the load is removed. A brake crank is screwed into the pin end to grip under the roller when unloaded.
