Abstract

The apparatus has an air-tight reservoir formed from a material of high thermal conductivity, provided with openings for the introduction of solid wax and a removable air-tight cover blocking the openings. The reservoir has heating and agitating means and vacuum can be applied to it. The lower part of the reservoir is connected to the upper part of the injection vessel which is in the form of a hollow cylinder with a piston. The flow of wax is controlled by a valve. The use of wax free from air makes patterns of improved surface quality in the lost wax process. The wax reservoir is provided with fins to improve heat transfer and agitation is by blades fixed on a rotating shaft which occupy the spaces between the fins. The fins may take the form of diametrally opposed segments.
