Ist der Schirm in Form eines sogenannten Automatik-Öffners gestaltet, so läßt sich im Anschluß an die beendete Verlängerung des Schirmstockes »im Handumdrehen« die Aufspannstellung herbeiführen. Die Rast-Haltekraft beruht auf der Federungseigenschaft der bodenseitig vorgesehenen Haltemittel. Eine solche Verankerung bringt in der Praxis nicht in allen Fällen eine betriebssichere Handhabung. So kommt es beispielsweise durch Verkanten des Stockes vor, daß das mit dem Etui gekuppelte Schirmende schon aus der Rast freigegeben wird, bevor die vollständige Verlängerung des Schirmstockes stattgefunden hat, so daß u. U. auch das Öffnen des Daches gestört ist, in jedem Fall aber die zweite Hand mitbenutzt werden muß.
