Description
Solche Materialien werden belichtet, entwickelt und schließlich zu einem Farbbild verarbeitet, indem man die vorhandenen Bildfarbstoffe in Abhängigkeit vom entwickelten metallischen Silber bleicht und das überschüssige Silberhalogenid und metallische Silber aus dem Material entferntIt is known that photographic materials for the silver color bleaching process on transparent or reflective supports a red-sensitive emulsion layer stained with cyan dye, over it a green-sensitive emulsion layer dyed with purple dye, and on top a blue-sensitive one contain emulsion layer dyed with yellow dye. Between these emulsion layers can there are also filter layers and other intermediate layers. Such materials are exposed and finally processed into a color image by converting the existing image dyes into Depending on the developed metallic silver bleaches and the excess silver halide and metallic silver removed from the material
The well-known/. Materials and the processes performed with them have several disadvantages which so far could not be completely overcome.
Wenn manIf only as much silver halide is used in the photographic material as is required for dye bleaching, the result is a material which is completely insufficiently light-sensitive. A large excess of silver halide is therefore generally used, a large excess of silver is produced and only a portion of the silver developed is used to bleach the dye. This produces a higher, but imme r Noci: insufficient sensitivity to light. This is because the silver halide emulsion is often chemically desensitized by azo dyes; Above all, however, the loss of sensitivity is caused by the fact that the dyes absorb light in the spectral sensitivity range of the emulsion, so that the light in the layer is attenuated and no longer has any effect in the depth of the layer. This last-mentioned effect of so-called optical desensitization has a particularly disadvantageous effect when the sensitivity range of the emulsion and the absorption range of the dye lie in the same spectral range, but are not completely congruent. If, for example, a layer sensitized with a sensitizer is colored with an image dye, the absorption maximum of which is at slightly shorter or longer waves than the sensitization maximum of the sensitizer, the spectral sensitivity distribution does not simply decrease evenly, but rather two sensitization maxima form with an intervening sensitization gap which leads to color distortions. According to British Patent 4,21727, these disadvantages are overcome by not dyeing the photosensitive layer, but separating the layer into an upper (ie facing the light source) colorless emulsion layer and a lower non-photosensitive layer colored with image dye. If
This distance bleaching is possible because the color bleaching catalyst (e.g. 23-Diaminophenazine) is activated on the silver that the activated form migrates to the dye and there the Dye bleaches To carry out this process you need a lot of silver, long bleaching times and energetic conditions of equilibrium, soft to in the desired color gradations. Next is the gradation after the silver dye bleaching process Produced images usually too steep, especially if you look in the specified way with one only Excess silver, partially used for color bleaching, works to overcome this disadvantage was proposed in German Patent 7 33 728 that one in the presence of an oxidizing agent bleaches This gives a certain flattening of the color image, but this is preferably done by extending the foot section of the color gradation curve, thus at the expense of sensitivity; in addition, instead of a wish-aren, you get straight lines (linearized) gradation a color gradation curve that is strongly s-shaped due to the lengthening of the foot area.
Auch gemäß diesem Verfahren wird die Gradation auf Kosten der Empfindlichkeit korrigiertAnother method of flattening the gradation is in the American patents 23 21 195 and 35 05 068 are suggested. Then the layer is divided into two layers: a colored one Layer with sensitive emulsion and another colored layer with a less sensitive one Emulsion. According to this method, too, the gradation is corrected at the expense of the sensitivity
Other disadvantages result from often difficult η controllable neighboring layer effects. So it was difficult when it was not yet sufficiently diffusion-resistant Dyes were available to prevent color adulteration due to dye diffusion. In the American Patent specification 23 91 198 a material is proposed which is between the non-diffusion resistant Emulsion layers dyed with dyes contain an emulsion-containing separating layer. According to According to this patent specification, the silver developed in the intermediate layer is used to bleach the adjacent color layers diffused dye. Without an intermediate layer, the one in the neighboring one Color layer diffused dye resulting in color shifts. In an intermediate layer without emulsion the diffused dye remains even with a .0 exposure on white There are still veils of paint.
-,->Since this patent is carried out in the absence of color bleaching catalysts, is one significant repercussions on the bleaching of the undiffused dye excluded. -, ->
Methods are also known (American patent specification 21 83 394 and British patent specification 4 83 464), which start from colored emulsion layers and colorless emulsion layers, which for Record different color impressions. In <, o These processes are the colorless layers after the black-and-white development with BÜdfarbstoffen stained, which are then used to generate images.
The object of the present invention is now to provide a process for the production of a photographic b5 Provide color image by the silver color bleaching process, resulting in images with improved color rendering leads by considering the disadvantages with regard to color gradation, sensitivity and spectral distribution the sensitivity can be largely overcome.
Es wurde gefunden, daß man die erwähnten Nachteile überraschenderweise vermeiden kann, wenn man eine, einen diffusionsfesten Bildfarbstoff enthaltende Emulsionsschicht und eine von Bildfarbstoff freie Emulsionsschicht kombiniert, in beiden Schichten Silberbüder entwickelt, und den Bildfarbstoff in Gegenwart eines Bleichkatalysators bleicht, so daß neben der Bleichung durch das schicht-eigene Silber eine zusätzliche Bleichung durch das Silber der Nachbarschicht eintrittIt has been found that you can surprisingly avoid the disadvantages mentioned if you have a, an emulsion layer containing a non-diffusible image dye and an emulsion layer free of image dye combined, developed in both layers Silberbüder, and the image dye in the presence of one Bleaching catalyst bleaches, so that in addition to the bleaching by the layer's own silver, an additional Bleaching occurs due to the silver of the neighboring layer
Durch das Zusammenwirken von Nah- and Fernbleichung erhält man einen Effekt der sich auf Gradation, Empfindlichkeit und spektrale Verteilung der Empfindlichkeit günstig auswirktThe interaction of near and far bleaching results in an effect that focuses on Gradation, sensitivity and spectral distribution of the sensitivity has a beneficial effect
The present invention accordingly provides a process for producing a photographic one Color image by the silver dye bleaching process, in which a photographic material is deposited on a Support at least one silver emulsion layer with a bleachable, image dye and one of Image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer contains, imagewise exposed and processed into a color image in the presence of a color bleach catalyst, the color image would only be created by what was present in the photographic material before exposure Image dyes is produced, characterized in that a photographic material is used which at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing a diffusible, bleachable image dye and immediately above, on the side facing the light source, an image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer with at least as high a sensitivity as the dye-containing layer.
The fact that the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer is on the side facing the light source means that the sensitivity of this layer is not subject to optical desensitization by the image dye. Suitably, the sensitivities of the two should Silberhalogenidemuls: onsschichten be tuned so that the sensitivity of the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer only equal, but is not higher than that of the image dye-containing Silberhaiogenidemulsionsschicht. This is achieved in a simple manner by dividing a single base emulsion into two parts, adding one part of image dye, and pouring both parts on top of one another. However, one can also start from different emulsions (different gradations and different sensitivities) for the two layers. The higher sensitivity of the image dye-free emulsion layer is adjusted in such a way that the color gradation curve is linearized by correcting the shoulder area, ie approximating a straight line. This must be determined empirically. The color gradation is corrected without loss of sensitivity or even with an effective gain in sensitivity.
In special cases .1 desired deviations from the linearity of the gradation curves can be determined by choosing other speed ratios in the two silver halide emulsion layers were also achieved will.
Selbst wenn man, wie dies bevorzugt getan wird, für beide Schichten von der gleichen Grundemulsion ausgeht, so benötigt man in der Bildfarbstoff freien Silberhalogenidemulsionsschicht weniger Emulsion alsEven if, as is preferred, the same base emulsion is used for both coats goes out, one needs less emulsion than in the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer
Zusätzliche F.mpfindlichkeiten in anderen Spektralbereichen
können zur Erzeugung gewisser Maskiereffekte wünschenswert sein. Vorzugsweise wird jedoch
in beiden benachbarten Schichten der gleiche Sensibilisator verwendet.in the silver halide emulsion layer containing the image dye, in order to achieve at least as high a sensitivity in the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer. In order to achieve the desired linearization effect, it is sufficient in most cases if the amount of silicon halide poured per unit area in the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer is set to be the same or preferably only a fraction of that in the silver halide emulsion layer containing the image dye, /. B. to 20 to 100%. The optical sensitization of the two associated silver halide emulsion layers is preferably in the same spectral region. However, it is not necessary to use the same optical sensitizer for both layers. For example, the maximum of the two sensitizations can be reduced by a few nm, e.g. B. to ± 25 nm, or the width of the Sensibiiisierurtgsbereiciie kanu vuiiemaiiuci HU
Thus, if necessary, the image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer can be sensitized with a sensitizer which has a very narrow band in the region of the absorption maximum of the image dye in order to compensate for the aforementioned sensitization gap caused by optical desensitization. Additional sensitivities in other spectral ranges can be desirable to generate certain masking effects. Preferably, however, the same sensitizer is used in both adjacent layers.
By the term image dye-free silver halide emulsion layer but it should not be ruled out that it may contain a filter dye by its presence during the exposure, the spectral transmission is selectively reduced and / or the sharpness of the image is increased. Such a filter dye becomes during the processing of the photographic Material completely destroyed or washed out.
The method according to the invention is suitable for coloring and multicolor material. Of special But it is important in the production of multicolor images, because the requirement is the gradations and adapting the sensitivities of the individual layers of color to one another, reducing the number of possible variations.

(Transmissionsdichte 2,0) gegossen. Das Material wird in drei Teile (A, ß, Qgeteilt.(Transmission density 2.0) cast. The material is divided into three parts (A, ß, Q.
A: A gelatin layer 2.5 μm thick is poured onto part of the material.
B: A 2.5 μm thick layer is poured onto another part of the material and contains silver bromide (0.5 g Ag / m 2) which has been sensitized in exactly the same way.
C: A 2.5 μm thick layer is poured onto a third part of the material, which contains silver bromide (1.0 g Ag / m 2) that has been sensitized in exactly the same way.
After exposure behind a step wedge with red light and the usual processing analogous to Example 1, the three color images A, B and C are obtained . 3 can be seen. The shoulder correction found for curves B and C with respect to the gradation curve A shows that here too there are silver halide emulsion layers whose sensitivity is higher than that of the silver halide emulsion layer containing the image dye. However, the conditions chosen are not optimal here, so that the linearization is not complete.
The procedure is as in Example 3, but with the difference that the silver bromide of the color layer and the silver bromide of the top layer can be sensitized in different ways, using the same sensitizer is used in different amounts.
Es wird für die Sensibilisierung des Silberbromids in allen Schichten ein Rotsensibilisator der FormelIt becomes a red sensitizer of the formula for the sensitization of the silver bromide in all layers

After the same processing as in Example 3, the three images A. B and C are obtained. It is from the gradation curves in FIG. 4 shows that, compared to the control experiment f / l ^, a top layer with 0.5 g Ag / m 2 (B) and even more so with a top layer with 1.0 g Ag / m 2 (C) both a gain in sensitivity and a gain in sensitivity Linearization effect can be achieved.
A material with the following layer arrangement is cast:

Only the protective layer (9) is poured in a thickness of 1.5 μm; all other layers (1 through 8) will be poured in a thickness of 2.5 μm each. The material comes with white, blue, green and red light exposed and processed as in Example 1. The measurement of the color wedges shows that all colors and Tonal values are reproduced in a better way than with photographic material which does not have silver bromide interlayers contains.
The procedure is as in example 1, but with the following differences:
The substrate is not transparent, but opaque white. The image dye has the formula (3) and is applied in a reflection density of 2.0. The silver bromide used is sensitized with a red sensitizer; it is used in the lower layers (material A and C) in an amount of 0.9 g Ag / m 2 and in the upper layers (material B and C) in an amount of 0.45 g Ag / m 2 . The exposure is done with red light. The three color gradations obtained are from the curve diagram F i g. 5 can be seen.
With regard to curves A, B and C, the same can be said as in Example 1.
