So weist es ein geringes spezifisches Gewicht auf, sodass die damit hergestellten Paneele leicht und handlich bleiben. Es ist anorganischer Natur, sodass das Brandverhalten keine Probleme aufwirft, wie sie von organischen Materialien her bekannt sind. Ferner weist Schaumglasgranulat gute Schall- und Wärmedämmeigenschaften auf, die dem Paneel zugute kommen. Durch die Einbettung des Schaumglasgranulates in ein anorganisches Bindemittelgerüst wird in einem Fertigungszwischenschritt eine feuchte, formbare Masse gebildet, die als Lage aufbereitet und auf die die beiden Außenschichten aufgedrückt werden können.
