Das ferromagnetische Material der Metallplatte bündelt das elektromagnetische Wechselfeld in dem Boden des Kochgeschirrs. Durch die eingekoppelte magnetische Energie werden Wirbelströme in den Außenflächen des Kochgeschirrs erzeugt. Dabei wird die elektrische Energie aufgrund des ohmschen Widerstandes des ferromagnetischen Materials in thermische Energie umgesetzt. Die in der Metallplatte erzeugte Wärme wird an das Aluminium des Kochgeschirrs übertragen, wobei auch in dem Aluminium selbst ein Teil der vom Induktionsherd bereitgestellten elektromagnetischen Energie eingekoppelt wird.Made of cast aluminum cookware is known in different configurations.
