Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zum Lagern von Waren, insbesondere Arzneimitteln, in einem Regal mit mehreren übereinander angeordneten Regalböden, welche jeweils eine Länge und eine Breite aufweisen, wobei die Regalböden quer zur Länge Trennelemente zur Bildung von einzelnen Fächern aufweisen, weist die folgenden Schritte auf: Eine einzulagernde Ware wird in einer Eingabestation vermessen und identifiziert. Die Ware wird auf einem Förderband befördert. Anschließend wird die Ware von dem Förderband in ein Fach eines neben dem Förderband und parallel zu dem Förderband angeordneten Zwischenspeichers in Form einer Auflagefläche mit einer Länge und einer Breite, wobei die Auflagefläche quer zur Länge Trennelemente zur Bildung von einzelnen Fächern aufweist, überführt. Schließlich wird die Ware aus dem Fach des Zwischenspeichers abgeholt und entweder in ein Fach des Regals oder zu einer Ausgabestation überführt. Dabei ist es insbesondere möglich, jeden der Schritte zunächst für mehrere verschiedene Waren durchzuführen, bevor der nächste Schritt des Verfahrens für die erste Ware und gegebenenfalls weitere Waren durchgeführt wird.
