Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Fenster oder eine Tür aus Kunststoffprofilstäben, die an ihren Sichtflächen mit einer schalenartigen Verblendung aus an ihnen verrasteten Aluminiumprofilstäben versehen sind. Die Erfindung verwendet die Aluminiumverblendung nicht nur als ein Schmuckelement zur Hervorbringung einer besonderen, ästhetisch wirkenden Gestaltung, sondern nutzt diese Verblendung als ein tragendes Element der Fensterkonstruktion aus, indem sie die Aluminiumprofilstäbe flächig mit den Kunststoffprofilstäben mittels Verklebung fest verbindet. Die Aluminiumprofile laufen nämlich, im Querschnitt gesehen, im wesentlichen in jener Richtung, in denen die Kunststoffprofilstäbe einer besonderen Aussteifung bedürfen, die üblicherweise durch die eingeschobenen Stahlprofilstäbe hervorgebracht wird. Durch die flächige, feste Verbindung zwischen den Aluminiumprofilstäben und den Kunststoffprofilstäben wird ein Schubverbund erzielt, der eine so hohe Festigkeit hat und Aussteifung erbringt, daß auf den Einsatz von Stahlprofilstäben in den Kunststoffprofilstäben verzichtet werden kann.
