Bei gleichem Fassungsvermögen wie ein üblicher Fermenter mit rundem Querschnitt konnte eine deutliche Längenreduktion erreicht werden, was den notwendi­ gen Flächenbedarf verringert und auch eine wesentlich kosten­ günstigere Herstellung des Fermenters ermöglicht. In der be­ trachteten Stahl/Blech-Variante sind dies um ca. 30% gerin­ gere Fertigungskosten gegenüber zwei herkömmlichen 5000 t Fermentern.
