Bei gleichem Fassungsvermögen wie ein üblicher Fermenter mit rundem Querschnitt konnte eine deutliche Längenreduktion erreicht werden, was den notwendi gen Flächenbedarf verringert und auch eine wesentlich kosten günstigere Herstellung des Fermenters ermöglicht. In der be trachteten Stahl/Blech-Variante sind dies um ca. 30% gerin gere Fertigungskosten gegenüber zwei herkömmlichen 5000 t Fermentern.
