Die vorliegende Maschine unterscheidet sich von allen bisher zu gleichem Zwecke ersonnenen und gebauten Apparaten durch die Construction des als Sieb dienenden Elevators und dessen Bewegung.The present machine differs from all previously devised for the same purpose and built apparatus through the construction of the elevator serving as a sieve and its Move.

In der beiliegenden Zeichnung, stellt α eine breite Schar dar, welche die Erde mit den Kartoffeln vom Boden abschält, worauf das endlose Tuch b die Weiterbeförderung auf den gedachten Sieb-Apparat übernimmt. Dieser ist in Form eines Elevators construirt; zwei endlose Ketten c c' werden durch die oben liegenden, mittelst Räder-Uebersetzung von dem Fahrrade angetriebenen, gezahnten Excenter dd^x in Bewegung gesetzt, während sie unten über concentrisch gezahnte Scheiben laufen. Die gröfsten Durchmesser der beiden Excenter d und d^l sind um i8o° gegeneinander versetzt. Die beiden Ketten c c' sind durch Querstäbe e e in Winkeleisen- oder einer anderen passenden Form, je ein um das andere Gelenk verbunden, jedoch so, dafs sich diese Querstäbe in der Weise, wie in Fig. 2 gezeigt ist, aus der Mittellage 1 nach beiden Seiten in die Schräglagen 2 und 3 begeben können. Dreht sich nun die Welle/ mit den beiden Excentern dd¹, so wird abwechselnd die eine oder die andere Kette straff gezogen, während die andere durchhängt. Es entsteht also auch ein abwechselndes Vorschieben der Querstäbe e e aus der Mittellage ι in die Schräglagen 2 und 3, sowie ein damit verbundenes abwechselndes Heben und Senken der Ketten. Diese Bewegungen erfolgen bei beiden Ketten stets in entgegengesetztem Sinne, und das Resultat ist eine stete Veränderung der Fläche, welche durch die Stäbe e e gebildet wird, aus der geraden in zwei windschiefe Lagen von entgegengesetzter Richtung.In the accompanying drawing, α represents a broad crowd, which peel the earth with the potatoes from the ground, whereupon the endless cloth b takes over the further transport to the imaginary sieve device.
