Von den bekannten Maschinen unterscheidet sich die Maschine nach der Erfindung dadurch, daß sie Schälmesser aufweist, die umsetzbar sind und auf beiden Längsseiten Schneiden haben, von denen aber jeweils nur die in der Drehrichtung vorn liegenden schälen, wohingegen die diesen Schneiden gegenüberliegenden Reserveschneiden sind, die erst wenn die Messer umgesetzt sind als Schneiden arbeiten. Die Scheiben können durch diese Gestaltung weit länger als bisher benutzt werden, da die stumpf gewordenen Messer nur gewendet werden müssen um den Betrieb aufrecht zu erhalten.
