Das vorliegende Isolir- und Dichtungsmaterial besteht aus Lagen von Asbest und Glimmer. Von einem durch die englische Patentschrift 6048 aus dem Jahre 1895 bekannt gewordenen Material unterscheidet sich das vorliegende dadurch, dais Asbest und Glimmer einander direct berühren, während sie bei der bekannten Anordnung durch eine Lage von Gummistoff von einander getrennt sind.The present insulating and sealing material consists of layers of asbestos and mica. Dadurch, dafs Asbest und Glimmer sich direct berühren, kann nach dem Anfeuchten des Asbests bei dem darauf erfolgenden Zusammenpressen der Materialschichten der Asbest auch in die kleinsten Zwischenräume oder Ecken der Glimmerschicht eindringen, so dafs die Bildung von Lufträumen, wenn auch sehr kleinen, in dem Material verhindert ist und die beabsichtigte gleichmäfsige Isolirfähigkeit des Materials erhalten bleibt. Es werden1 nämlich namentlich nach dem Trocknen des Gummistoffes die Lufträume eine Verbindung der Glimmerplatten unter einander an dieser Stelle verhindern und dadurch eine ungleichmäfsige Isolirfähigkeit der ganzen Platte veranlassen, und daher steht das durch die englische Patentschrift bekannt gewordene Material dem vorliegenden an Werth nach.
