Description
Process for the production of spun-dyed or matted rayon or rayon It is known to be spun-dyed or matted rayon and rayon by incorporating pigments such as titanium dioxide into the spinning solution. The pigment is used at an earlier stage in the manufacturing process mixed in, e.g. B. when dissolving the xanthate in sodium hydroxide solution. With this species the addition one achieves a level not previously achieved by other methods, very good distribution of the pigment in the viscose. However, this process is uneconomical, as there are very long transition times when changing to a different shade or degree of matting are required until the system is free of the previously produced color or Degree of matting. The fiber produced during these transitions is of poor quality represent.
Various methods have therefore already been worked out to achieve this To stabilize the pigment using dispersants, protective colloids or thickeners Work up pastes, which are then only mixed well shortly before spinning added to the viscose. This process is significantly more economical, however is particularly useful in the production of fibers with a very fine denier, e.g. B. 1.2 denier in which a particularly good degree of pigment distribution is sought must, in order to achieve the highest possible color yield with as little addition of pigment as possible, so that the textile data of the fibers are not adversely affected, a fully satisfactory one uniform distribution of the pigment in the fibers produced is not achieved been. This is primarily due to the fact that when the pigment suspension is mixed in Most pigments agglomerate to some extent in the strongly alkaline viscose. Attempts have been made to do this by adding various types of additives to the pigment suspensions to prevent or the still young agglomerates by mixers with high shear forces to part again. Even if certain successes were achieved thereby, it was a fully satisfactory solution to the problem has not yet been achieved.
It has been found that spun-dyed or matted staple viscose can be used and rayon with very good pigment distribution through continuous mixing a pigment suspension in the viscose shortly before spinning can that by mixing well a dry pigment with about 20 to 750/0 its weight in alkali cellulose, subsequent sulphidation of the alkali cellulose and dissolving the xanthate-pigment mixture thus obtained in dilute sodium hydroxide solution prepares a pigment suspension and this continuously shortly before spinning in the viscose mixes in.
The procedure is carried out by treating the pigment with the specified Amount of alkali cellulose mixed, using apparatus with good shear and mixing action are preferable. Then the alkali cellulose is mixed with the usual amount of carbon disulfide, expediently 35 to 450/0, preferably 40 to 420/0, based on the cellulose Alkali cellulose, sulphided and finally the xanthate-pigment mixture with dilute sodium hydroxide solution, which preferably contains 5 to 8 ovo NaOH, dissolved so that a suspension is obtained which advantageously contains 10 to 200/0 of pigment and about 1 to 3 0 / o contains cellulose. The viscosity of such a suspension is very low. The figures given for the CS2 use and the sodium hydroxide concentration are not necessarily to be complied with, but it turned out to be a particularly good one when it was observed Stability of the suspension observed. Suspensions prepared according to the invention were, could be left to themselves for 2 weeks at room temperature without severe sedimentation, agglomeration or coagulation occurred. In practice the suspension is consumed in a much shorter time by removing the viscose continuously metered in on their way to the spinning machine and then in a continuous mixer is mixed with it.
The uniformity of the distribution of the pigment and the degree of fineness in the fiber produced in this way are very good, because on the basis of micrographs and by visual assessment of the fiber it can be seen that the results match those correspond to those obtained when the pigment is already at an earlier stage is added to the production of viscose; they are significantly better than the previous ones loading known methods of spin dyeing by metering.
The method according to the invention is very general for manufacture of spun-dyed or matted rayon and rayon can be used, but his Application for the production of viscose wool spun matt with titanium dioxide and rayon are particularly beneficial.
The production of the pigment suspension is illustrated by the following examples shown.
Example 1 10 parts by weight of TiO2 are converted into 6.4 Parts by weight of alkali cellulose sprinkled with 360/0 cellulose and 16% NaOH. To a mixing time of 20 minutes with 400/0 CS2, based on the cellulose Alkali cellulose at an initial temperature of 260 C and a final temperature of 340 C, sulfided for 50 minutes. Then with 82.7 parts by weight 50 / ger NaOH made into a paste and dissolved, so that a suspension with 100% (TiO2 and 2.3% cellulose arises.
Example 2 The procedure was as in Example 1, with the difference that 23 parts by weight of TiO2 were sprinkled and that with 200 parts by weight of 5 0 / oiger Sodium hydroxide solution was dissolved, so that a suspension with 10% TiO2 and only 1% cellulose originated. The mixing time was 10 minutes and the sulfiding time was 60 minutes.
In both examples, the suspension obtained was before the addition filtered through a filter to the spinning viscosity, which is filled with cotton wool-polyvinyl chloride-Kalmuk-cotton wool-polyvinyl chloride twill fabric was occupied.
This type of filter pad has proven to be particularly suitable for filtering the pigment suspensions proved.
