Das wie ein Hobeleisen gestaltete Schneidmesser α ist auf dem einen Ende einer im Uebrigen als Handgriff ausgebildeten flachen Platte b rechtwinklig zu deren Längsachse befestigt. Die Schneide dieses Messers liegt schräg, mit dem stumpfen Winkel der Platte b zu; die hinter der Schneide befindliche Kante der Auflagestelle ist in gleicher Schräge ausgebildet (Fig. 4). Unmittelbar vor der Schneide liegen zwei Arme, der mit Platte b fest verbundene c und der gesondert gebildete und mit seiner plattenförmigen Auflagefläche neben dem Messer α verschiebbar eingestellte d. Diese beiden Arme lassen einen Raum zwischen sich von der Dicke des zu behandelnden Leders; sie sind in der Weise gegen die Fläche des Messers geneigt, dafs die scharfe Kante des letzteren jenen rechteckigen Raum als Diagonale durchschneidet (Fig. 1).
