In der Schilddrüse findet sich, wie durch eingehende Untersuchungen nachgewiesen ist, ein Eiweifskörper, welcher zum Theil mit Jod substituirt ist. Dieser Eiweifskörper erhöht, ■per os oder subcutan eingegeben, die Eiweifs- und Fettumsetzungen im Körper des Menschen oder der Thiere. Das Jodothyrin (Thyrojodin) ist nur ein Spaltungsproduct der Eiweifssubstanz der Schilddrüsen und lä'fst sich durch das Fehlen der Biuretreaction von dem ursprünglichen Präparat unterscheiden; auch beweist der hohe Jodgehalt des Jodothyrins gegenüber demjenigen des Ausgangsmateriales, da fs bei seiner Darstellung eine weitgehende Spaltung eingetreten ist.In the thyroid gland, as has been shown by detailed investigations, there is a protein body, which is partly substituted with iodine.
