Abstract

Description

The invention relates to a folding box with an integrated folder.

According to the Medical Devices Ordinance, folding boxes for packaging pharmaceuticals must be provided with patient information cards (patient alert cards) that explain possible interactions with other medicines in the case of special pharmaceuticals. The patient information card must be separable from the folding box so that the patient can carry it on their body and show it to the pharmacy, for example, to check whether it can be combined with other medicines.

It is known to use the patient information card together with the medication (e.g. tablet blisters) and package inserts in the folding boxes. This means more work for the packers, since the patient information cards have to be delivered separately and inserted into the folding boxes with the tablet blisters and package inserts. A checkweighing or other control measure may need to be carried out to ensure that each carton contains a patient information card.

It is also known to integrate patient information cards into the folding box construction. The patient information card can be arranged as an extension of an external adhesive flap that can be separated along a perforation line on an outside of the folding box. The folding box can be prepared accordingly by the folding box manufacturer so that the packer only has to pack the medication and package insert. The disadvantage is that relatively little information can be accommodated on the one-sided card.

In addition, folding boxes are known which have a flap connected to the edge of the opening via a fold line and which carry a patient information card on one side, with which they are folded against the inside of a side wall of the folding box. The patient information card can be in the form of a leporello. In this embodiment, the preparation of the folding box by the folding box manufacturer is relatively complex.

Folding boxes are also known in which an internal adhesive flap is connected via a perforation line to a patient information card which lies against the inside of a side wall of the folding box. The patient information card can be formed by a single sheet or by a leporello. The patient information card is glued to the inside of the side wall and the leaves of the leporello are glued together so that the patient information card lies flat against the side wall and does not block the insertion of tablet blisters and leaflets. These folding boxes can also be pre-folded and pre-glued by the packaging manufacturer so that the packer only has to fill in the tablet blisters and the package insert and close the ends of the folding box. A disadvantage is the expense for the additional gluing of the patient information card and that this makes it more difficult to remove and unfold the cards.

Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to create a folding box with a patient information card, wherein the patient information card can be printed with a comparatively large amount of information and the folding box can be produced and filled more easily.

The object is achieved by a folding box having the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the folding box are specified in the dependent claims.

A folding booklet is integrated into the folding box according to the invention, which booklet comprises a number of sheets which are connected to one another via folding lines on their longitudinal edges. The side walls are also connected to one another via fold lines at the longitudinal edges, so that the fold lines between the sheets of the folded booklet and the fold lines between the side walls run parallel to one another. An outer leaf of the booklet is connected to an upper edge of a side wall by a fold line, the upper edge of the side wall being perpendicular to the longitudinal edge of the side wall. The folded booklet is folded about the fold line connecting it to the top edge of a side wall against the inside of that side wall, the outer sheet of the booklet, which is connected via a fold line of the side wall, covering the remaining sheets of the booklet. Since the outer sheet covers the remaining sheets of the booklet, it is referred to as the "outer sheet". The leaves of the folding booklet thus do not block the opening of the folding box, which is delimited by the upper edges of the side wall. Rather, the outer sheet of the folder forms a kind of ramp along which the product can be filled into the folding box without being blocked. It is not necessary to glue the sheets of the folded booklet to one another and to the side wall lying against them. The folding box is therefore particularly suitable for automatic filling with medicines, especially in the form of tablet blisters and package inserts, at high speed.

The folding box including the folding booklet can be produced by the folding box manufacturer. The folding box can be formed from a one-piece blank together with the folding booklet, so that the printing and the punching, creasing and scribing as well as the folding of the box can be combined in each case.

The folding box can be pre-folded and pre-glued by the folding box manufacturer. Here, one-piece blanks can be transported to form the folding box with the longitudinal edges of the sheets of the folding booklet and the side walls in the machine direction. The leaves of the folding booklet can first be folded by means of switches and the folded folding booklets can be folded against the insides of the side wall connected thereto via a folding line by means of a return hook moved synchronously with the blanks passing through. The adhesive flap can be folded against the inside of a side wall by means of a further switch. In a gluing station, the glue flaps or sections of side walls can be provided with glue and side walls or sections of side walls can be folded by means of a further switch and longitudinal seam gluing can be produced. Folded boxes pre-folded and glued in this way can be delivered to the packer stacked on top of each other. There, the flat-lying folding boxes merely have to be erected by unfolding the side walls around the fold lines at their longitudinal edges, filled through the opening between the upper edges of the side walls and closed by closing the bottom closure and the top closure. In principle, this can be done without further gluing. The packaging can be done at high speed and with a high level of process reliability using an automatic machine.

According to a preferred embodiment, the leaves of the booklet are not glued to each other and/or the booklet is not glued to the side wall to which the booklet is connected by a fold line.

According to a further embodiment, the folding booklet can be separated along a weakening line from the side wall to which it is connected via a folding line. This makes it easier to separate the folding booklet from the folding box. In principle, however, it is also possible to separate the folding booklet from the folding box without such a weakening line, for example with the aid of scissors.

According to another embodiment, the line of weakness runs along an arc in the side wall to which the leaflet is connected by a fold line, the two ends of the arc falling into the upper edge of the side wall to which the leaflet is connected. This makes it possible to separate the booklet from the side wall by depressing the side wall inside the sheet. According to a further embodiment, the arc is dimensioned in such a way that it can be pressed in with a thumb.

According to a further embodiment, rectilinear sections of the weakening line on both sides of the sheet coincide with the fold line between the folded booklet and the side wall. This makes it easier to separate the booklet from the fold line on both sides of the sheet.

According to a further embodiment, the width of the leaves of the folder is less than the width of the side wall against which the folder rests. This makes it easier to remove the folding booklet from the folding box after it has been separated from the side wall. To further facilitate the removal of the folding booklet, according to a further embodiment, the two longitudinal edges of the folding booklet are at the same distance from the two adjacent longitudinal edges of the side wall against which the folding booklet rests.

According to another embodiment, the upper edge of the outer leaf of the booklet protrudes further upwards with a protruding area than the upper edges of the other leaves of the booklet. The protruding area covers the upper edges of the remaining sheets of the booklet and forms a smooth transition from the fold line at the upper edge of the side wall to the several sheets of the booklet folded over one another.

According to another embodiment, the outer sheet of the folder has bevels on both sides below the protruding area and the other sheets have corresponding bevels on the upper corners, the bevels of the sheets folded on top of each other overlapping on the two sides. When filling, tablet blisters, package inserts and the like can slide along the bevels without getting caught on the side edges of the folder.

According to another embodiment, the leaves of the booklet are folded together in one of the following ways: zigzag fold, wrap-around fold, altar fold, parallel center fold, mixed fold of parallel and cross folds. With zigzag folds, also known as leporello folds or folds, several sheets are folded in alternating directions, giving the booklet a concertina-like appearance. In the case of trifold folds or folds, the sheets joined together lengthwise are always folded in the same direction. In a folder with three leaves, the two side leaves are folded onto the middle leaf so that they overlap. With altar folds or folds, the side sheets of the booklet are folded inward onto a central sheet without overlapping. In a three-leaf fold, the middle leaf is twice as wide as the two side leaves. When the center portion is divided into two leaves by a center fold line, the result is a four-leaf gate fold, also known as an eight-page gate fold. With the parallel center fold or fold, the section of the cardboard sheet from which the folder is formed is folded several times, always in the middle. The mixed fold is a combination of one of the aforementioned parallel folds and a cross fold or cross fold in which the paperboard material is folded multiple times at right angles.

According to another embodiment, the top closure comprises top dust flaps connected to top edges of two opposite side panels by fold lines, a top flap connected to a top edge of another side panel by a fold line, and a top tuck flap connected by a fold line is connected to the opposite edge of the top flap, and/or the bottom closure comprises bottom dust flaps, which are connected via fold lines to lower edges of two opposite side walls, a bottom flap, which is connected via a fold line to a lower edge of a further side wall, and a bottom tuck-in flap connected to the opposite edge of the bottom flap by a fold line. The packer can close these closures by folding and pinning without having to use glue. According to another embodiment, instead of the upper tuck-in flap, the top closure has an upper adhesive flap that abuts and is glued to an outside of a side wall, and/or the bottom closure has a lower adhesive flap instead of a lower tuck-in flap that is on the outside a side wall and is glued to it.

According to a further embodiment, the folding booklet is connected via a fold line to the side wall which is opposite to the side wall which is connected via a fold line to the top flap. After opening the lid flap, the folding booklet can be removed particularly easily from the folding box.

According to a further embodiment, the folding booklet is connected to the side wall via a fold line, which is connected to the bottom flap at its lower edge via a fold line. A folding box in which the top flap and the bottom flap are connected to opposite side walls via fold lines is particularly stable.

According to another embodiment, the folder has 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 leaves. In principle, the construction allows folding booklets with any number of sheets. The folders can be printed with a lot of information.

According to a further embodiment, the upper dust flaps and the lower dust flaps have widened edges on both sides adjacent to the fold lines, and the upper and lower tuck-in flaps with receding edges on both sides of the fold lines reach under the widened areas of the upper and lower dust flaps and lock with them. The locking ensures that the lower and upper locks do not open unintentionally.

According to a further embodiment, on both sides of the fold line, which connects the cover flap with the upper tuck-in flap, there are upper cuts offset outwards with respect to this fold line are present, which separate outwardly protruding upper tongues of the lid flap from the receding edges of the upper tuck-in flap, and/or are between the bottom flap and the lower tuck-in flap on both sides of the fold line that connects the bottom flap with the lower tuck-in flap, with respect to this fold line offset lower ones Cuts present, which separate outwardly protruding lower tongues of the bottom flap from the receding edges of the lower tuck-in flap. According to a further embodiment, the sheets of the folder are alternately connected to one another via at least one score line and at least one perforation line. The at least one score line and the at least one perforation line form fold lines between the sheets of the folder. According to a further embodiment, the at least one score line and the at least one perforation line are arranged in such a way that, in the case of sheets folded in a zigzag shape, the fold is directed along the at least one score line in one direction and the fold along the at least one perforation line is directed in the opposite direction. This design of the fold lines is advantageous in terms of production technology because the blank can be scored and perforated from the same side. Otherwise, to fold the sheets in opposite directions, the score lines would have to be made in the material from different sides.

According to a further embodiment, the fold lines between the side walls and the glue flap, between the side walls and the dust flaps, between the side walls and the top flap and the bottom flap and between the top flap and the top tuck flap and the bottom flap and the bottom tuck flap are score lines. The creasing lines can be introduced into the carton at the same time as the blanks are being punched out. In particular, they can be introduced into the material from the same side at the same time as the score lines and perforation lines.

According to a preferred embodiment, the folding box is made of cardboard. The folding box is made, for example, from cardboard coated on one side. The box may have printing on the outside. Furthermore, the leaves of the folder can be printed on one or both sides.

In the present application, the information “top” and “bottom”, “inside” and “outside” and information derived therefrom such as “above” and “below”, “inside” and “outside” refer to the erected and closed folding box, with the side walls oriented vertically and the top seal is over the bottom seal.

According to 1 A blank 1 comprises side walls 2, 3, 4, 5 which are connected to one another at the longitudinal edges via fold lines. The side walls 2, 4 are wider than the side walls 3, 5. The other longitudinal edge of the side wall 2 is connected to an adhesive flap 6 via a fold line.

The upper edges of the side walls 3, 5 are ver via fold lines with upper dust flaps 7, 8 tied. The lower edges of the side walls 3, 5 are connected to lower dust flaps 9, 10 via fold lines.

The upper dust flaps 7, 8 and the lower dust flaps 9, 10 each have widenings 11, 12, 13, 14 on the side edges adjacent to the fold lines (cf. 4 ).

The side wall 4 is connected at the top edge via a fold line to a cover flap 15, which is connected at the opposite edge via a fold line to an upper tuck-in flap 16. On both sides of the last-mentioned fold line, between the top flap 15 and the top tuck-in flap 16, there are outwardly offset upper cuts 17, 18, which separate outwardly protruding top tongues 19, 20 of the top flap 15 from recessed edges 21, 22 of the top tuck-in flap 16 (cf. 6 ).

The lower edge of the side wall 2 is connected via a fold line to a bottom flap 23, which is connected to a lower tuck-in flap 24 on the opposite edge via a fold line. On both sides of the last-mentioned fold line there are lower cuts 25, 26 that are offset to the outside and separate outwardly protruding lower tongues 27, 28 of the bottom flap 23 from recessed edges 29, 30 of the lower insertion flap 24 (cf. 6 ).

The outer corners 2 of the upper and lower tuck-in flaps 16, 24 are rounded.

Furthermore, the blank 1 comprises a folding booklet 31, which has a plurality of sheets 32, 33, 34, 35 which are connected to one another via fold lines at their longitudinal edges. The outer sheet 32 of the folder is connected to the upper edge of the side wall 2 via a fold line. The leaves 32, 33, 34, 35 are less wide than the side wall 2, so that the longitudinal edges of the folder 31 are at a distance from the longitudinal edges of the side wall 2 on both sides. The outer sheet 32 is connected to the upper edge of the side wall 2 in the middle.

The outer sheet 32 has a protruding area 36 which protrudes further towards the upper edge of the side wall 2 than the upper edges of the other sheets 33, 34, 35 of the folder 31 (cf. 3 ). Below the protruding area 36, the outer sheet 32 has bevels 37, 38 on both sides and the other sheets 33, 34, 35 also have bevels 39 to 44 on both sides of their upper edge.

The fold lines between sheets 32 and 33 and 34 and 35 are each formed as score lines, and the fold lines between sheets 33 and 34 are formed as perforation lines in the form of broken score lines.

A line of weakness 45 runs along a semi-circular arc 46 in the side wall 2, the two ends of the arc 46 falling into the upper edge of the side wall 2. Straight sections 47, 48 of the weakening line 45 and the fold line between the folded booklet 31 and the side wall 2 coincide on both sides of the sheet 46.

Folded booklet 31 can in particular be a patient information card.

The blank 1 is processed so that according to 2 first the sheets 32, 33, 34, 35 of the folder are folded together in a zigzag shape, as in 3 shown. Thereafter, the folded booklet 31 according to 4 folded towards the inside of the side wall 2 until it is in accordance 5 due to it.

In further steps, the adhesive flap 6 is folded against the folding booklet 31 and the side wall 4 is folded around the common fold line with the side wall 3 against its inside. As a result, the inside of the side wall 5 is brought into contact with the adhesive tab 6 and glued to it. Folding box 49, pre-folded and pre-glued in this way, is in 6 shown. It can be stacked one on top of the other with a large number of correspondingly pre-folded and pre-glued folding boxes 49 . The above steps are preferably carried out at the folding carton manufacturer.

At the packer, the flat-folded folding box 49 is erected by the outer longitudinal edges being pressed together somewhat. Here, the side walls 3, 5 are aligned perpendicular to the side walls 2 and 3. The upper and lower edges of the side walls 2, 3, 4, 5 delimit upper and lower openings 50, 51 of the folding box 49. In this state, the folding box is in 7 shown.

Tablet blisters and package inserts can be shot into the opened folding box 49 through the upper opening 50 . The filling takes place through the upper opening 50, since the folding booklet 31 is hinged there and the protruding area 36 covers the other sheets 33, 34, 35 arranged below the outer sheet 32, so that they do not impede the filling of the folding box 49. Rather, the outer sheet 32 forms a ramp for tablet blisters and package inserts to slide past. During insertion, the tablet blisters and the package inserts are guided along the superimposed bevels 37 to 44 so that they are not blocked there.

Finally, the folding box is assembled by folding the top dust flaps 7, 8 and the bottom dust flaps 9, 10 into the top opening 50 and the bottom opening 51 and by closing the top flap 15 and the bottom flap 23 and inserting the top tuck-in flap 16 and the bottom tuck-in flap 24 closed between the dust flaps 7, 8, 9, 10 and the side wall 2 or the side wall 4.

The recessed edges 21, 22, 29, 30 of the upper tuck-in flap 16 and the lower tuck-in flap 24 engage under adjacent widenings 11, 12, 13, 14 of the upper dust flaps 7, 8 and the lower dust flaps 9, 10 and are thereby locked in the closed position .

The projecting tongues 19, 20, 27, 28 of the top flap 15 and the bottom flap 23 cover the gaps between the insertion flaps 16, 24 and the adjacent side walls 2, 4 at the edges. On the upper side, they cover in particular the gaps on both sides of the folder 31.

The closed folding box 49 is in 8th shown.

According to 9 the folded booklet 31 is separated from the side wall 2 by pressing in the weakening line 45 in the area of the arc 46 and pulling it off along the straight sections 47, 48. The upper closure 52 of the folding box 49 formed by the upper dust flaps 7, 8 and the lid flap 15 is open. Folded booklet 31 can be pulled out of upper opening 50 .

According to 10 the folding booklet 31 is completely pulled out of the folding box 49.

In 11 the opened folder 31 is shown.

According to 12 the folding box 49 can be closed again after the folding booklet 31 has been removed by folding the upper dust flaps 7, 8 into the upper opening 50, closing the lid flap 15 and inserting the upper tuck-in flap 16 into the gap between the upper dust flaps 7, 8 and the side wall 2 is plugged.

Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 8th in which the leaves of the booklet are folded together in one of the following ways: fan fold, wrap-around fold, altar fold, parallel center fold, mixed fold of parallel and cross fold. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 9 , in which the top closure has top dust flaps connected by fold lines to top edges of two opposite side panels, a top flap connected by a fold line to a top edge of another side panel, and a top tuck flap connected by a fold line to the opposite edge of the lid flap, and/or in which the lower closure has lower dust flaps, which are connected via fold lines to lower edges of two opposite side walls, a bottom flap, which is connected via a fold line to a lower edge of a further side wall and a lower tuck-in flap, which is connected to the opposite edge of the bottom flap via a fold line. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 10 , in which the folding booklet is connected via a fold line to the side panel which is opposite to the side panel which is connected via a fold line to the top flap. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 11 , in which the folding booklet is connected to the side wall via a fold line, which is connected to the bottom flap at its lower edge via a fold line. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 12 , in which the booklet has two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine or ten leaves. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 13 , in which at least one sheet of the folding booklet, preferably several sheets of the folding booklet, preferably all sheets of the folding booklet are printed on one side and/or both sides. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 14 , in which the upper dust flaps and the lower dust flaps have widenings on the edges on both sides adjacent to the fold lines, and the upper and lower tuck-in flaps with receding edges on both sides of the fold lines reach under the widenings of the upper and lower dust flaps and lock with them. folding box claim 15 , in which between the top flap and the top tuck-in flap on both sides of the fold line that connects the top flap with the top tuck-in flap, there are upper cuts offset outwards with respect to this fold line, which separate outwardly protruding top tongues of the top flap from the receding edges of the top tuck-in flap, and /or between the bottom flap and the lower tuck-in flap on both sides of the fold line that connects the bottom flap with the lower tuck-in flap, there are lower cuts offset outwards with respect to this fold line, which lower tongues of the bottom flap protrude outwards from the recessed edges of the lower tuck-in flap. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 16 , in which the leaves of the folder are alternately connected to each other via score lines and perforation lines. Folding box according to one of Claims 1 until 17 in which the fold lines between the side panels and the glue flap, between the side panels and the dust flaps, between the side panels and the top flap and the bottom flap, and between the top flap and the top tuck flap and the bottom flap and the bottom tuck flap are crease lines.
