Abstract
A box for prepacked products such as medicinal and similar products provides for a wing (9) which extends from one of the sides into the inside of the box. The wing is detachable from the box once this has been opened and is filled in with information and sent to the producer of the medicine.
Description
"BOX WITH REMOVABLE PORTION" Technical field
The present invention relates to a case or box, particularly for use as a container for medicinal products, provided with a removable element.
Background art
The boxes or cases for medicinal products or prepacked products must generally be low cost, easy to assemble and capable of being handled by high-speed packing lines. Examples of boxes of this type are described in the European patent N° 0430013 in the name of the present applicant. These boxes present a folding wing external to the box and fixable in a reversible way onto it and have some points of information printed on the wing. Disclosure of the invention
The purpose of the present invention is to furnish a box or container for prepacked products, particularly medicinal, which satisfies the above stated conditions of low cost, facility and speed of production and packing, and which also furnishes an element for the collection of information.
Such purpose is achieved by the present invention, which relates to a box for prepacked products characterized according to Claim 1. According to a preferential embodiment of the invention, the wing or removable element is provided with a break-off line to facilitate separation from the body of the box.
According to a further preferential embodiment of the invention, the break-off line includes a semicircular portion which extends into the side of the box adjacent to the refolded wing.
According to another aspect of the invention, the extent of the removable wing is approximately equal to which of the side of the box onto which it is folded.
Preferably, the form on the additional removable wing is filled in by the user of the medicine or whatever the box contains, who detaches the removable wing for personal use - as a memo, for instance - or to give to a physician or send to the producer with some necessary information. Similarly, the additional wing can be used as a ticket to take part in a lottery, for example by having a blank to be filled in with name, address and personal particulars of the user, and a blank onto which glueing purchase coupons. According to another possible use, the removable wing forms a picture card or is printed with pictures to be collected or, alternatively, has a siliconed-paper layer onto which is arranged a self-adhesive element, like a picture card. According to a further embodiment, the wing is provided with a blank to be filled in and with anti-counterfeitness means, such as, for example, holograms or paint that is visible only under UV light or the like. When the producer receives the filled in wing, can verify whether the wing comes from an authentic article or from a counterfeit one.
Anyway, independently of its final use, the wing can be removed without damaging the box: in fact the box can be used even after the removal of the wing, till the content of the box has run out. This advantage is important in particular when the box is used to contain medical products.
The box according to the invention presents the notable advantage therefore of furnishing in a simple way and at low cost a means for
picking up and preserving information using the printed part of the additional wing, while allowing the whole box to be used as a container for the product. Best mode for carrying out the invention The box according to the invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the enclosed drawings which are by way of illustration and not limitative, and in which:
- Fig. 1 is a plan view of the die-cut blank which forms the box according to the invention; - Fig. 2 is a partial prospective view of the opening of the box according to the invention; and
- Fig. 3 is a view similar to which of Fig. 2, after the removal of the additional wing.
Referring first to Fig. 1 , a die-cut blank is shown from the printed side. The die-cut blank 1 comprises a plurality of sides 2-5 which form the tubular body of the box, and the gluing side 6 which is attached to the side 2 at the moment of the formation of the tubular body. The side 5 provides for a pair of closure flaps 7 which engage with the wings 8 on the sides 2 and 4. The side 3 provides for an additional wing 9 which extends from the same side and is integral with it. In the preferential embodiment shown, the additional wing 9 has a printed portion 10 which contains some information and which could be completed by the user with further information. As mentioned above, the printed portion 10 may be a picture or a label or a self-adhesive removable element, such as a picture card to be collected in an album. Furthermore, the printed portion may comprise anti-counterfeitness means, like those described in Italian patent No. 1 152767.
Since the wing 9 can be removed from the box, means are provided to facilitate the separation of the wing 9 from the box, means which in the preferential embodiment are shown constituted by break-off line 1 1 which coincides in part with the fold-line 12. As can be seen, the line 1 1 presents a curved part which extends onto part of the side 3, in proximity to the line of separation with the wing 9, to further facilitate the separation of the wing 9 from the rest of the box, as will be better described below. The additional wing 9 must be lodged inside the tubular body (fig. 2) substantially adjacent to side 3, so its area represents an extension not greater than the extension of said side. For reduced dimensions boxes, the extent of the wing 9 is preferably about equal to that of the side 3 of the box onto which it is folded. Fig. 2 shows the upper portion of a box gccording to the invention, fully ossembled. The box is obtoined by folding the wing 9 onto the internal face of the side 3 and then folding and gluing the side 2 onto the side 6; at this point the box has a flattened conformation and remains so up to the moment of its erection for packing, when it assumes the form shown in fig. 2. As shown, the additional wing 9 is contained on the inside of the tubular body of the box, substantially adjacent to the side 3 with which it is integral. Preferably, the wing 9 is free, in as much as it must be removed from the box, and therefore projects slightly from the side 3: the phials or equivalent material to be packed must be introduced into the box from the opening where wing 9 is attached, and not from the opposite opening. Alternatively, pressure adhesives may be used to get the wing adhering to the internal wall of side 3, till the wing is removed.
Fig. 3 shows the box according to the invention after the wing 9 has been removed. As mentioned above, there are means present to facilitate the removal of the wing 9, means preferably comprising the break-off line 1 1 ; the curved part of the line 1 1 defines a semicircular portion 13 of the side 3, which simplifies the tearing operation since it allows wing 9 and portion 13 of the side 3 to be gripped between two fingers and to be torn from the box with great ease. As mentioned above, once removed, the wing 9 could serve different purposes, for instance it could be filled in and kept by the same user or sent to the producer, or given to others (physician). The wing 9 could also be simply read and kept.
