Abstract

The invention relates to a vehicle module (2b, 2d, 2f) for a rail vehicle (1) comprising a plurality of vehicle modules (2a - 2g), comprising a vehicle body structure (9) and a seating area (14) for passengers arranged within the vehicle body structure (9). In order to achieve a higher number of seats for passengers, it is proposed that the vehicle body structure (9) has a supporting portion (10) for supporting the vehicle module (2b, 2d, 2f) on one of the other vehicle modules (2a, 2c, 2e, 2g) of the rail vehicle (1), wherein the seating area (14) is located at least partially within the support portion (10) of the body structure (9). Description

The invention relates to a vehicle module for a rail vehicle comprising a plurality of vehicle modules, comprising a vehicle body structure and a passenger seating area arranged within the vehicle body structure for passengers. Moreover, the invention relates to a rail vehicle for passenger transport with such a vehicle module.

Rail vehicles composed of a plurality of vehicle modules are known in the art. For example, the WO 2005/049400 A1 a rail vehicle, which is composed of several different vehicle modules.

One advantage of a rail vehicle composed of several vehicle modules is its high adaptability. For example, individual vehicle modules can be removed, changed or grouped differently to adapt the rail vehicle to new conditions.

That in the WO 2005/049400 A1 disclosed rail vehicle comprises several center entry modules, which are equipped with entrance doors, but have no passenger seats. In addition, the said rail vehicle comprises a plurality of seating modules, in which passenger seats are provided, but which have no entrance doors.

An object of the present invention is to allow a higher number of seats for passengers in a rail vehicle comprising several vehicle modules.

This object is achieved by a vehicle module according to claim 1 and by a rail vehicle according to claim 4.

Advantageous developments of the vehicle module according to the invention and of the rail vehicle according to the invention are each the subject of the dependent claims and the following description.

The vehicle module according to the invention for a rail vehicle comprising a plurality of vehicle modules has a vehicle body structure as well as a seating area for passengers arranged within the vehicle body structure. The vehicle body structure of the vehicle module according to the invention has a support section for supporting the vehicle module on one of the other vehicle modules of the rail vehicle, wherein the seat area is located at least partially within the support section of the vehicle body structure.

In the rail vehicle from the WO 2005/049400 A1 the center entry modules each have a support portion at its two longitudinal ends, the center entry modules are supported with their support sections each on two seating modules of the rail vehicle. Accordingly, the seating modules of this rail vehicle require at their longitudinal ends in each case a support section on which one of the center entry modules can be supported with its support section.

The invention is based on the recognition that in the rail vehicle from the WO 2005/049400 A1 the space required by its seating modules for the support sections is not available for passenger seats. In addition, the center entry modules of this rail vehicle, since they each have a support section at their longitudinal ends, have a large longitudinal extent, which, however, remains unused for passenger seats.

As mentioned above, the vehicle module according to the invention has a seating area. Thus, this vehicle module is a seating module.

In the vehicle module according to the invention, a support section is provided with which the vehicle module according to the invention can be supported on one of the other vehicle modules of the rail vehicle. On the side of the car body structure, on which the support section is located, a support section, on which another vehicle module can be supported, can be omitted. Instead, this area of the vehicle module can be used for passenger seats. In addition, as a result of the fact that the previously mentioned seating area is located at least partially in the supporting section of the vehicle module, at least part of the supporting section is used for passenger seats.

Compared with an equally long seat module, which has at its longitudinal ends support sections on which other vehicle modules can be supported, the vehicle module according to the invention can provide more space for passenger seats available.

Preferably, the support section has on its underside a support surface with which the vehicle module can be supported on one of the other vehicle modules of the rail vehicle.

That the aforementioned seat area is at least partially within the support portion of the car body structure may be understood to mean that the seat area is partly inside and partly outside the support portion or completely within the support portion.

The vehicle module may include one or more seating areas. That is, the aforementioned seat area may be the sole seating area of the vehicle module or one of a plurality of seating areas of the vehicle module.

If the vehicle module has only one seating area, the seating area can extend in particular over the entire length or substantially the entire length of the vehicle module. If the vehicle module has a plurality of seating areas, the seating areas may be separated from each other by other areas, such as a toilet area and / or an on-board restaurant area.

Preferably, the vehicle module is free of entrance doors. In other words, the vehicle module preferably does not have its own access door. This has the advantage that no space is needed for an entry area. Consequently, more space can be used for passenger seats. In addition, a simple manufacturability of the vehicle module is made possible in this case, since it can be dispensed with a production of door openings and the installation of entrance doors.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the vehicle body structure has a further supporting portion for supporting the vehicle module on still one of the other vehicle modules of the rail vehicle.

One of the two support sections is preferably arranged on one of the two longitudinal ends of the vehicle module. Preferably, the first vehicle module is supported with its support section or, if the first vehicle module has two support sections, with one of its two support sections on the second vehicle module, in particular on a support section of the second vehicle module.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the second vehicle module is equipped with at least one bogie, preferably with two bogies.

Further, it is advantageous if the rail vehicle has a coupling, by means of which the first and the second vehicle module are interconnected. This allows a secure connection of the two vehicle modules.

The coupling may in particular be a releasable coupling. This allows a quick and cost-effective release of the connection between the two vehicle modules, for example, if the configuration of the modules of the rail vehicle to be changed.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the second vehicle module has at least one access door. It is particularly preferred if the second vehicle module has two access doors, which are arranged in particular on opposite side walls of the second vehicle module. The second vehicle module can in particular serve as an anteroom for boarding and disembarking passengers.

In an advantageous development of the invention, it is provided that the second vehicle module has a pivot bearing. Further, it is advantageous if the first vehicle module is supported on the at least one pivot bearing of the second vehicle module. This makes it possible to achieve that the second vehicle module can rotate relative to the first vehicle module. This allows, inter alia, a good cornering of the rail vehicle.

Furthermore, at least one of the two vehicle modules of the rail vehicle can have a sealing unit, in particular a bellows or a rubber bead seal. The sealing unit is expediently provided for sealing a transition between the two vehicle modules. The sealing unit is preferably arranged on the vehicle body structure of the respective vehicle module, in particular on the end face thereof.

Furthermore, the rail vehicle preferably has a third vehicle module. The first vehicle module may, for example, be arranged between the second and the third vehicle module. It can further be provided that the third vehicle module has at least one pivot bearing.

In the event that the first vehicle module has two support sections, the first vehicle module is preferably supported with one of its two support sections on the at least one pivot bearing of the second vehicle module and supported with the other of its two support sections on the at least one pivot bearing of the third vehicle module. Preferably, the weight of the first vehicle module is fully supported by the second and third vehicle modules.

The pivot bearings of the vehicle modules are preferably each mounted on a floor platform of the respective vehicle module. Furthermore, the respective pivot bearing can be designed such that in the event of derailment of the rail vehicle folding of the vehicle modules is prevented from each other, for example by a constructive limitation of the rotation of the respective pivot bearing.

The second and the third vehicle module may be designed to be different from each other or identical to each other. It can be provided, for example, that the second vehicle module is a head module and the third vehicle module is a center entry module.
