Description
The present invention relates to a method for obtaining data about a state of a liquid.
Cavitation is generally understood to mean the formation of cavities in a liquid. In the case of hydrodynamic cavitation, this cavitation is caused by a flow-induced change in the static pressure in the liquid.
Every object moved by water causes cavitation at a certain speed. When operating a marine propeller, also commonly referred to as a "propeller", cavitation is observed above a certain speed. Cavitation is in most cases a problem because the resulting pressure surges in the water can cause corrosion and erosion of the propeller blades. In addition, the cavitation noise in various applications can interfere and lead to operational restrictions. Thus, when using a propeller-driven ship as a research vessel, the cavitation noise can interfere with measurements in the water. Furthermore, this noise can disturb marine animals, which may be limited, for example, the range of movement of cruise ships or ferries. The cavitation noise also allows acoustic detection of a ship, which is e.g. may be undesirable in a submarine.
It is an object of the present invention to obtain information about a state of a liquid.
The object is achieved by a method for obtaining data on a state of a liquid, wherein the liquid is monitored for a noise caused by gas cavitation and / or pseudo cavitation and a detection of said noise in the liquid as an indicator for a change of at least one state variable the liquid is used and / or used to determine a range of values within which at least one state variable of the liquid is located. The object is also achieved by a detector device comprising a sensor unit for detecting a noise caused by gas cavitation and / or pseudo-cavitation in a liquid and for transmitting a measurement signal in the event of detection of said noise and a signal processing unit for receiving the measurement signal transmitted by the sensor and thereby triggered generation of data, which relate to a change in at least one state variable of the liquid and / or a range of values within which at least one state variable of the liquid is.
Steam cavitation describes the formation of vapor-filled cavities (= vapor bubbles) due to a decrease in the static pressure of the liquid: According to Bernoulli's law, the higher the velocity of the flowing liquid, the lower the static pressure of a liquid. If the static pressure of the liquid falls below its evaporation pressure, vapor bubbles form. The vapor bubbles are then entrained mostly with the flowing liquid in areas of higher pressure. If the static pressure again exceeds the vapor pressure, the vapor bubbles collapse like an implosion, practically with the speed of sound. A collapsing cavity can cause very high pressure surges. In addition, a cavitation noise usually occurs during imploding, as part of the released energy is emitted in the form of sound waves.
Gas cavitation, on the other hand, is based on another phenomenon: as the static pressure of the fluid decreases, the solubility of a gas dissolved in the fluid, e.g. of air. In the transition from dissolved gas by diffusion in the undissolved state, small gas-filled cavities form in the liquid. In the case of gas cavitation, therefore, there is an outdiffusion of the gases dissolved in the liquid, which is dependent on the saturation pressure.
In the case of pseudo-cavitation, which - as the prefix "pseudo" implies - is in the real sense not a "formation" of cavities in a liquid, existing gas bubbles already present in the liquid, but so far unnoticed because of their microscopically small extent, increase in size due to a decrease in the static pressure of the liquid its volume. The pseudo-cavitation thus does not designate "formation" of cavities, but rather a "widening" of gas bubbles of the gases undissolved in the liquid as a result of a pressure reduction.
Only with completely degassed and cleaned liquids, the cavities fill exclusively with steam. In practice, ie in real flows, cavitation usually occurs as a combination of gas, pseudo and vapor cavitation. In particular, the gas and the steam cavitation occur in a mixed form. First of all, bubbles at the so-called cavitation nuclei grow through gas cavitation and pseudo-cavitation up to a critical radius, with the attainment of which and the associated drop below the vapor pressure curve then steam cavitation sets in.
Although all three cavitation forms mentioned - steam, gas and pseudo cavitation - occur virtually simultaneously, they have a very different importance in the art, e.g. for ship operation.
Similar to gas cavitation, pseudo-cavitation usually does not cause any damage to a ship propeller, since the gas-filled cavities merely grow and shrink, but do not implode.
Also in terms of noise, the steam cavitation differs significantly from the gas and pseudo cavitation. While the pressure surges in the steam cavitation lead to a relatively strong noise, the characteristic cavitation noise, the two other cavitation types, the gas and the pseudo-cavitation, cause only a relatively quiet noise.
Steam cavitation and gas / pseudo cavitation differ in the following point: Steam cavitation occurs only when the static pressure exceeds the boiling line in the direction from the liquid phase to the gaseous phase. Gas and pseudo cavitation, and thus their "noise", in contrast always occurs when the pressure in the water changes. However, the boiling point and the gas solubility are coupled with each other: In the preliminary stage for steam cavitation, the gas solubility decreases, so that the dissolved gas is demixed. The gas solubility is reduced so close to reaching the boiling point that a strong blistering begins, and thus a detectable noise. The demixing process thus leads to the noise that is to be detected.
The invention thus allows an imminent, i. to detect imminent onset of steam cavitation. Thus, countermeasures can be taken in good time and the unfavorable side effects of steam cavitation avoided.
In case of danger, e.g. in the vicinity of an enemy locating vessel, a vessel, e.g. a submarine, as soon as possible to leave the current, possibly located location without generating noise that allow a location of the vessel. In such a situation, the invention provides the ability to increase the speed of the vessel, i. To optimize the speed of the ship propeller, avoiding steam cavitation and a concomitant cavitation noise.
Advantageous embodiments and modifications of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims. In this case, the inventive method can also be developed according to the dependent device claims, and vice versa.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, a sensor is provided, which is suitable for detecting a noise caused by gas cavitation and / or pseudo-cavitation in the liquid, a detection signal is sent from the sensor to a signal processing unit upon detection of said noise, and generates the signal processing unit, triggered by an input of the measurement signal, data concerning the change of the at least one state variable and / or the value range.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, said detection is used as an indicator of a change in the static pressure in the liquid.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method, the said detection is used to determine a range of values within which a content of a dissolved gas in the liquid.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the method is used according to
If the noise is detected and thus determined that the static pressure in the liquid, especially in the water carrying the vessel, decreases, the speed of the propeller can be reduced and / or the angle of attack of at least one propeller blade of the propeller as a possible countermeasure Ship propeller can be changed to increase the pressure on the back and thus does not enter the range of steam cavitation. Other measures to increase the pressure on the back of the propeller blades are blowing in water or opening channels penetrating the propeller blades, through which water can flow from the overpressure to the vacuum side.
It is possible that when using the method in the operation of a ship propeller, a sensor is provided which can detect said noise on a propeller shaft, which serves to drive the ship's propeller. The propeller shaft is mechanically fixed to the propeller to enable it to rotate. The sensor preferably contacts the propeller shaft. It is also possible that at least part of the sensor is attached to the shaft.
It is possible that when using the method in the operation of a ship propeller, a sensor is provided which can detect said noise on a ship's hull. The ship's hull forms the outer shell of the vessel, which is moved by means of the ship's propeller. The sensor preferably contacts the hull. It is also possible that at least a part of the sensor is attached to the ship's hull.

The sensor preferably contacts the propeller. It is also possible that at least part of the sensor is attached to the propeller, e.g. on a propeller blade.
According to a preferred embodiment of the detector device, the sensor unit is arranged on a watercraft, in particular on a propeller and / or on a propeller driving shaft and / or on a hull of the watercraft.
According to a preferred development of the invention, the method according to claim 4 is used in the operation of a cooling or heating system in which the liquid serves as a heat carrier. A heat transfer medium (also: heat transfer medium) is a medium which transports heat from a location of higher temperature to a location of lower temperature in a heating or cooling circuit. Depending on the application and temperature range, heat transfer media are also referred to as heating medium, more rarely as heating medium, as coolant (also: cooling medium) or as coolant, when used below 0 ° C. Water is one of the most common refrigerants as cooling water. It is known that gas bubbles in the cooling water damage in a refrigeration system, e.g. in a cooling circuit of a fuel cell can cause, in particular due to local overheating. Similar problems also occur when using water as a heat carrier in a heating system, e.g. a hot water heating system, on. In principle, the problem of dissolved gases can be of importance for any liquid heat carrier. In many cases, therefore, a great effort is operated to expel gases dissolved in the heat transfer medium from the heat transfer medium. The present application makes it possible to monitor in a simple manner the content of dissolved gases in the liquid heat carrier.
It is preferred if the application comprises the following steps: operating a propeller in the liquid serving as heat carrier; Increasing the speed of rotation of the propeller to a limit speed at which said noise is detected in the fluid; and deriving, i. Determining the content of the dissolved gas in the liquid from the value of the limit speed.
Since cavitation formation is dependent not only on the static pressure p in the liquid and the temperature T of the liquid but also on n, ie on the number or concentration of dissolved gases in the liquid, the content or saturation state of liquids can be determined with this method Derive dissolved gases. The propeller provokes gas cavitation and / or pseudo cavitation and the resulting noise in the fluid. For this purpose, the rotational speed of the propeller is preferably slow increased until the point is reached at which then the typical noise can be detected. By installing a propeller in a cooling or heating system, for example a cooling or heating water line, the method according to the invention for determining gas cavitation and / or pseudo-cavitation can thus be used.
According to a preferred embodiment, this application comprises the following further steps: performing a calibration in which in each case a corresponding limit speed is determined for different values of the content of the gas dissolved in the liquid; and storing the corresponding value pairs of gas content and limit velocity for a subsequent step of said deriving. The step of calibrating determines, for different gas concentrations, at which rotational speed of the propeller the gas and / or pseudo cavitation and the resulting noise in the liquid occur. The value pairs determined in this way can optionally be stored in a memory unit with additional extra or interpolated additional values. If, later on, the limit velocity at which the gas and / or pseudo cavitation and the noise caused thereby occurs is determined for a liquid with an unknown content of dissolved gas, the value range in which the content of dissolved gas can be derived from the stored value pairs lies.
It is possible that in this application, the propeller is operated at intervals or continuously operated at this limit speed after reaching the limit speed. It is possible to operate the propeller continuously at a limit number of revolutions; If the gas content exceeds a critical limit, gas and / or pseudo-cavitation and the characteristic noise occur.
Es zeigt jeweils schematisch und nicht maßstabsgetreu The above-described characteristics, features, and advantages of this invention, as well as the manner in which they are achieved, will become clearer and more clearly understood in connection with the following description of the embodiments, which will be described in detail in conjunction with the drawings. It shows in each case schematically and not to scale
Starting from a first state point P1, the static pressure p in the liquid is lowered, e.g. as a result of a rotation of a propeller. When the static pressure p decreases to reach the boiling point curve SPK at the second state point P2, steam cavitation commences, which also occurs when the pressure p, e.g. up to the third state point P3, persists.
Even with a pressure change in the liquid phase region L between the first state point P1 and the second state point P2, gas cavitation and / or pseudo cavitation occurs, with a corresponding noise. The further the pressure p in the liquid phase region L along the path P1-P2 approaches the boiling point curve SPK, the more pronounced the noise caused by gas cavitation and / or pseudo-cavitation.
In order to avoid the harmful side effects of steam cavitation, such as corrosion and loud implosion noises, there is e.g. in the operation of a propeller, the effort to avoid a drop in the static pressure p in the water below the boiling pressure SPK, i. States along the dashed line P2-P3.
