Die mit der Erfindung hauptsächlich erzielten Vorteile sind darin zu sehen, dass die beiden Kurbelwellen des Kurbelwellensystems zur Betätigung der Triebelemente der Brennkraftmaschine herangezogen werden, was zu einer günstigen Drehmomentverteilung beiträgt. Die Triebelemente werden einerseits durch einen Steuerantrieb für Nockenwellen und andererseits durch einen Antrieb für ein Nebenaggregat gebildet, das als eine Dieselkraftstoff fördernde Hochdruckpumpe ausgeführt ist. Diese vorbildliche Antriebsart trägt dazu bei, dass die Leistungsübertragung des Kurbelwellensystems für die Triebeinheiten der Brennkraftmaschine gezielt auf die erste und die zweite Kurbelwelle verteilt wird. D. h. ein wesentlicher Teil der Leistungsübertragung erfolgt über die zweite Kurbelwelle, wodurch das Triebelement bzw. der Antrieb für die Nockenwellen, umfassend Zahnräder; Kettenräder und Kette-Umschlingungstrieb-, der ersten Kurbelwelle, gewichtsoptimiert darstellbar ist. Die zweite Kurbelwelle wirkt mittels des Betätigungselements auf das Nebenaggregat in Gestalt der Dieselkraftstoff fördernden Hochduckpumpe ein, was sich konstruktiv musterhaft umsetzen lässt. Das Betätigungselement wird durch einen Nocken gebildet, der an einem Zapfenabschnitt der Kurbelwelle Beispiel gebend angeformt ist. Dabei ist auch noch hervorzuheben, dass das Betätigungselement und der Nocken aus einem Stück mit der zweiten Kurbelwelle hergestellt sind.
