Abstract

The apparatus has a rope (3) i.e. suspender belt, provided on a rope drum (4), and a resistant force generating unit and a restoring force generating unit arranged in a handgrip (1). The present invention relates to a trimming apparatus for the upper body according to the preamble of patent claim 1 and to a corresponding method for exercising the upper body. Trimmgeräte are known and used in various designs. The present invention describes a trimming device, the z. B. during running or walking of the exercising person is also used to train the muscles of the upper body and in particular the shoulder area and the arms. However, the trimmer can also be used during work breaks while sitting or standing.

Known trim devices such. B. from the US 4,441,707 have a hip belt to which a single, non-stretchable, rope is arranged circumferentially, at the free ends of each handles are provided for the user's hands.

The disadvantage here is that the stretchy ropes are on the one hand subject to high wear and on the other hand, a rope of certain length is only suitable for the arm length of a particular user, so that if several users want to use this trimmer, they need ropes of different lengths.

A trimmer of other design is from the US 5,618,249 A known. This consists essentially of a hip belt, wherein a pulley is arranged in the back area for each body side. The free end of each rope has a handle for receiving by a hand. Thus, the rope at hand attacks at a certain angle, in the back region of this hip belt each have a guide rod with pulley for the rope provided. Each pulley is such that at rest, a portion of the rope is rolled up on the pulley. When moving the hand, a corresponding portion of the rope in question is unwound from the pulley. Based on this prior art, the skilled artisan task is to provide a trimming device, which is suitable for permanent use on the one hand and on the other hand can be used by people of different sizes and in which the equipment expense, ie its manufacturing cost compared to known trimming equipment is reduced.

The essence of the invention is that the force applied to train the upper body of the trimmer, not due to the elongation of the rope but from a spring, which is arranged on or in the trimmer.

This offers the advantage that, in particular in the case of a rope which is essentially inextensible, it is subject to virtually no wear and therefore has a long service life.
