Description
TECHNISCHES GEBIET DER ERFINDUNGTECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a method for producing a photoluminescent wood-based panel with the features of the preamble of
By photoluminescence is meant the property of certain compounds to emit light of the visible region after they themselves have been previously excited by light of the visible region or other electromagnetic radiation. The period of emission of the light after the excitation can be very different in length. In the context of the present invention, photoluminescent substances which luminesce for a relatively long time after their excitation are preferred.
STAND DER TECHNIKSTATE OF THE ART
Photoluminescent paints and plastic films in which pigments with photoluminescent properties are embedded are known. Thus, it would be obvious to coat a base body with a photoluminescent ink or a photoluminescent plastic film for producing a photoluminescent molded body, in particular a plate. However, the resulting layer structure would not be sufficiently resistant for many applications. Thus, in the case of such coated boards made of wood-based materials, the bond between the coating and the plate would easily be lost when sawing in the area of the cut edge. In addition, the known photoluminescent plastic films are not of the necessary surface stability, in particular not the necessary abrasion resistance, as is required for many applications of plates in which photoluminescent properties would be of interest, such as the shop furniture and kitchen furniture.
Permanent composites are achieved in the manufacture of wood-based panels by hot pressing of wood particles or wood fibers mixed with thermosetting binders. Even when producing so-called laminated compacts, a common hot pressing of the layers takes place, in which they are permanently joined together by a thermosetting synthetic resin.
In so-called laminates are laminates with a support plate on which a first coated on its back with resin decorative paper is applied, which usually has a wood decor. Subsequently, a overlay paper, which is also coated with synthetic resin on its reverse side, is applied before the layer structure is hot-pressed. The transparent or at least translucent overlay paper serves, on the one hand, to approximate the optical effect of the decorative paper to that of a genuine lacquered wooden surface. But it is also a protection for the decor paper against abrasion. The abrasion resistance of a laminate is regularly further increased by introducing into the synthetic resin for bonding the overlay paper a hard aggregate in the form of, for example, corundum particles. Advantageously, this hard aggregate is during pressing of the layer structure on the side facing away from the press plates of the overlay paper, so that the press plates are not directly claimed by the hard aggregate and correspondingly quickly worn.

BESCHREIBUNG DER ERFINDUNGDESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the new process for producing a photoluminescent wood-based panel on the basis of a produced by hot pressing process, having a synthetic resin base body and pigments with photoluminescent properties, the pigments are introduced into a near-surface layer of the body. That is, the pigments are present within the body, which is produced by the pressing process. So you get into the press and are part of the permanent composite produced by hot pressing with curing of all synthetic resin shares. The pigments are used in order to use their photoluminescent properties in a near-surface layer. This means that they do not lie on the surface of the main body, but are embedded in a protective layer in a layer adjacent to the surface or even ending below the surface. It is not excluded that the pigments are distributed over the entire body. However, this is by no means preferred since pigments lying far inside the main body can not show their photoluminescent properties since they are neither achieved by stimulating electromagnetic radiation nor would they emit light emitted by them to the outside. In the narrower sense, the introduction of the pigments into a near-surface layer of the base body therefore means that the photoluminescent pigments are introduced only into a partial layer of the base body.
The photoluminescent pigments are introduced into the near-surface layer via the synthetic resin portion of the base body. That is, they are added to the resin portion of the near-surface layer and introduced with this in the preform, which is then pressed hot to the body. As a result, an accurate localization and dosage of the pigments is achieved.
The photoluminescent pigments are embedded in a layer based on lignocellulose-containing fibers, specifically in a cover layer of a fiberboard. In any case, it is preferred if the layer near the surface with the photoluminescent pigments is covered with a translucent cover layer before being hot-pressed. In this way, contact of the photoluminescent pigments with the press plates is prevented. The prevention of such a contact may also be advantageous because the pigments are less heated. Normally, however, photoluminescent pigments for industrial applications are thermally stable in the relevant temperature ranges. However, they are of such a size that a mechanical contact with the press plates leads to an increased mechanical stress on the pigments but above all of the press plates, which is prevented by a cover layer. So that the cover layer does not hinder the light emission from the photoluminescent pigments and also their excitation, it must at least be translucent. It can then purposefully effect a diffuse scattering of the luminescent light emanating from individual photoluminescent pigments. The translucent cover layer can also be transparent.
Concretely, the translucent cover layer can be a synthetic resin impregnated overlay paper, as used in so-called laminates according to the prior art as a cover layer.
The pigments can be introduced on all main sides of the main body in each case a near-surface layer. Such a symmetrical structure ensures the usability of the respective shaped body, regardless of its orientation. However, many shaped bodies have a defined visible side from the outset. Then it is - alone to limit the use of high-quality photoluminescent pigments in terms of volume - advantageous to strike the pigments only a near-surface layer on the visible side.
In a photoluminescent molded body according to the invention, the pigments are present in a near-surface layer of the base body produced in the hot-pressing process. They are found there in the synthetic resin content of the near-surface layer. The further features of the new photoluminescent molded article have already been explained with reference to the method steps which directly result in these features.
