Die deutsche Offenlegungsschrift DE 23 64 647 A1 offenbart eine Backofentür für Herde, insbesondere Einbaugeräte, mit einem versenkt angeordneten Türgriff, bei welcher der Griff so angeordnet werden kann, dass zum einen bei Nichtbenutzung des Backofens keine hervorstehenden Teile vorhanden sind, sich zum anderen der Griff bei Benutzung des Backofens leicht bedienen lässt und insbesondere außerhalb der Türfläche in einem kühleren Bereich liegt. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass der Türgriff ausziehbar an der Backofentür angeordnet ist. In Weiterbildung kann der Griff als ausziehbarer Bügelgriff ausgebildet werden, wobei es als zweckmäßig angesehen wird, den Griff in der ausgezogenen Stellung zu verrasten. Es ist auch möglich, an der Backofentür eine Einschaltsperre für die Backofenbeheizung vorzusehen, die durch den eingeschobenen Türgriff betätigt wird. Dies hat den Vorteil, dass eine Benutzung des Backofens nur bei ausgezogenem Türgriff möglich ist.
