Abstract

Two friction wheels in contact with each other are suspended from a mounting. A cable drum is in contact with one of the friction wheels and a rubber cable is connected to the cable wound around the drum. The mounting can be moved in a first way to urge a first friction wheel against the moving bicycle wheel and moved in a second way which is the mirror image of the first way, in order to move a second friction wheel against the bicycle wheel. Tension can be generated in the rubber cable by contact between one of the friction wheels and the bicycle wheel, whilst contact between the bicycle wheel and the other friction wheel relieves this tension, causing the rubber cable to rotate the drum and drive the friction wheel in contact with the bicycle wheel.

Description
